Hi, I am a freshman at stonehill college looking to transfer

Highschool GPA - 3.7

SAT
Critical Reading: 650
Math: 650
Writing: 620
Overall: 1920
no subject tests

ACT:
English: 20 (ran out of time)
Reading: 28
Math: 26
Science: 30
Composite: 26
Writing subscore: 10

AP Tests: 5 on both Biology and Psychology
Took all honors classes in high school, graduated in the top 10 percent.

I am in the honors program at stonehill college as a biology major.
My GPA first semester was 3.9 having the highest grades in both my biology and chemistry classes so I will most likely get good recs. from those professors.

I was in a few clubs and volunteer orgs. in highschool including the national honor society and am also in some in college.

The schools I am looking to apply to for transfer admission are: Boston College, Holy Cross, Northwestern, Johns Hopkins and Dartmouth.

How are my chances of being accepted?

Your chances to any top 20 school are rather dismal given your low test scores and mediocre high school GPA. I would suggest waiting a year if you're intent on getting into one of them, as your high school record will matter less and your impressive college GPA will be more heavily weighted.

3.7 hs gpa does not seem mediocre to me. id say you have a decent shot at holy cross and bc but northwestern, jhu and dartmouth might be a big reach.

A 3.7 is not low but certainly mediocre unless the transcript is loaded with AP courses. I'm not sure about the others but the probability of NU, JHU, or Dartmouth is low.

should I try and retake my ACT and/or SAT?

I know for a fact Holy Cross does not require SAT/ACT scores to be sent. So if you are worried about your test scores, just don't send them to Holy Cross. The others do require SAT/ACT scores. Maybe they are waived after a certain amount of credits but I'm not sure of the number.

wow. I cant believe how people think you have no chance at all.

I disagree, I believe that you have a great chance at all of those schools...maybe a little trouble at Dartmouth, but thats it! 3.7 is stellar considering all of the APs that you have taken. As for your ACTs, it really doesnt matter if you retake them or not unless you are confident on making a big improvement. I dont think most colleges would really care if you improved your standardized test scores as a college student. Write some good essays, and you should be able to get into some of those schools.

Good Luck!
