Your class rank puts you in the top 20% of your class. That isn’t very good compared to most UT applicants, who are all top 10%. Try to bring that up as much as you can, although that may be the rank your school sends to UT, given that you have to apply before the first semester of your senior year is complete. My HS sent my end-of-Junior-year-rank as my class rank.

I believe for fall 2010 they will only use your end-of-junior-year-rank. That said they will most likely offer you the CAP program (where you attend one of the smaller UT locations and if you achieve a certain gpa you are guaranteed a transfer to Austin).

Top 20% and 1850 SAT won’t cut it even though you’re Hispanic, unless you’re going to do band/join the marching band at UT…
With your current stats, I’d say it’s a definite reach. Raise your SAT to 2000+ and you just might have a shot.

Band will do nothing for you at UT. They have more wanting to get in than they can take. It is a rather long audition process. It will not help you with admissions at all.

Applying for the education school might help, it seems to be a little easier to get into. Being Hispanic will help, I’ll second the suggestion to try and pull up your SAT. Good luck!

I say this on every one’s chance board, but try the ACT as well. :D
