In State
25% of the kid's in my school go to c.p(thomas sprigg wootton)
Asian, English is not my first language
I went to a school in nj for 10th grade, but i spent my 9th, 11th, and senior year at wootton.

I think I would re-take the SAT, and place emphasis studying CR, since the math is very high.

The amount of students going to cp from your school doesn’t matter as much as how you match up to the kids in your class. For example, if you are in a class of 500, and you rank in the middle of the pack, than that should be more of a concern, since UMD will get with your transcript a school profile, and use that as their measuring stick for re-weighting your gpa. You may go to a school they deem as highly comp. and as such, they will re-weight the gpa higher, you may go to a school that they see as avg and not re-weight at all.

Your gpa is low and so is your CR, but it seems that you are 1st generation Asian, and I would highlight this in my essay to ease their concerns over the low CR SAT score and uw gpa.

On a whole, I would think with your background you are a match.

My school was rank 17th best highschool in the united states a few years ago. So will this help me get in umd since it’s a really competitive school? And does applying undecided yield a higher percentage of getting in? I’m sorry for all the questions, i really have to get into cp because out of state tution is really expensive.

I am not positive of how it works for undeclared majors. Have you taken a tour at UMD? Sometimes, these questions can be answered better through them. Wootton this yr is ranked as number 54, which is not something to cringe over.

As I stated earlier use your essay to highlight your life as a 1st gen American, how the language was a barrier and you should be in.
