My only B's have been graphic design freshman year and AP Gov (will a 5 on the exam atone for this)? unless I get really hot toward the end of this semester, I'm getting a B in AP English.

Next year, I plan on taking AP Calc BC, AP Lit, AP Bio, Ap Physics C, and (probably) AP Stats.

EC's:

Boy Scouts
-Eagle Scout (just did my board of review). My project was building benches, pressure-washing old ones, and putting sealant.
-Senior Patrol Leader during 10th grade, Patrol Leader during 9th
-broke a national record for hiking. I hiked the Bartram Trail (100 miles/5 days, has a lot of elevation)
-LOTS of community service

Tennis (all 4 years)
-private lesons
-varsity tennis

Academic Quiz Bowl team (10-12)

Duke TIP summer program (summers after 9th and 10th grade, I respectively studied macroecon. and robotics)

Miscellaneous:
I also volunteer at the library during the summer.
I also made the state round for MathCounts in 8th grade. (Is there any way to say this even though it was in middle school)
I received national honors in 7th grade for the SAT math portion. (see above parenthetical statement)
-Traveled around Europe.
-I'm almost certain my PSAT score will qualify me for semifinalist standing in the NMS search.

Essay: talk about a trumpet competition in which one of the judges judged his own students THREE years in a row and how his bias didn't prevent me from playing trumpet and still playing my best. (can mention more details later if you'd like)

Recommendations: I know several teachers at my school who like me and will probably write well about me.

Your activity with Young Republicans should be a boon. Colleges look for diverse student bodies, which includes political opinions. And since, as you say, most colleges are left-leaning, being so involved with Republican activities couldn’t hurt your chances.

hey do u ahve any study tips for ap classes?
whats a 3.91 out of 100(my school doesnt use the 4.0 scale)
i think ur in, depending on ur race/location
GOOD JOB ! u really stand out! great ec’s !
what did u do over the summer over all four years?

This is Harvard we’re talking about. no one is in until april 1st. You should know that you probably cant take Physics C without first having a calculus class. Your stats look pretty good, but make sure that you have one main thing that you can focus on in your essays and show just how much you care about it. It seems to me that that would be music, boy scouts, or Young Republicans. anyways, keep those grades up and good luck next year.

i go to a georgia private school and am asian. how would this affect me?

can you survive AP Physics C while taking AP Calc BC concurrently (without a previous calculus class)

It’s hard, unless math just comes naturally to you. I suggest that you study Calculus AB material over the summer so you can be better prepared for those two classes.

Hey everybody! looks like the miracle did happen. I got an A in AP English Language. How would this help me?

nice work. well junior year is really important for grades because you’re taking rigorous classes. its good to show them you can succeed with a tough courseload

Congratulations on moving towards Eagle. My son hiked Philmont, I think he also hiked over 100++ (actually 120 miles, I think) miles there, but it wasn’t a national record.

@saints2009: Sorry to digress off topic, but are you a supporter of the New Orleans Saints? I am not personally, but I hope that they absolutely rout the Minnesota Vikings this week. I live in MN and the Vikings are the most annoying professional team I have ever come across (attributed to the media and their fans).

As for your chances, I would definitely state that your competitiveness is above the average student admitted to Harvard. I would estimate around 30%.

honestly, your ECs are pretty weak. You don’t have much in the way of winning competitions. You have a bunch of participation, but no recognition. You’re fairly average in the asian applicant pool.

ok, with my national record hike for boy scouts, i was given an award from the governor of Sonny Purdue and the atlanta area council
