I'm sorry for posting another repetitive run of the mill "chances" thread, but I'm just pulling my hair out over this.

My GPA is a 3.1 unweighted 3.5 weighted (I know I had a tough Junior year)
Sat 1400/2110 (With an 11 on the essay)
I'm president of my Latin Club/Academic Team and I'm involved in several other clubs
I'm also very involved in my Red Cross and Humane Society.
3 honors in both Freshman and Sophomore year (the max allowed at my school)
4 AP's last year (Biology, Latin Lit, Lang, US history) ; 6 this year (Art History, Stats, Latin Vergil, Lit, Psych, Gov)
Applied For Summer
Held down a job for 3 years
My essay was ok to good in my opinion, it was about Latin club.
Applied as a Classics major
I believe I'm top 15%

I hope I didn't focus too much on Latin, but its really my goal.

Except for GPA, I’d say that your chances are good.

But that GPA could be a problem.

Because of the low GPA, I’d give you a 35-40% chance. But it’s obvious from your other achievements/activities that your GPA doesn’t really reflect the kind of student that you are.

I hope UF recognizes that and, if they don’t, some other school would be lucky to have you.

Thanks, I really appreciate your optimism!

Just another quick question, does UF deferr at all? I don’t think I’ve heard of anyone being deferred.

I don’t think so. I think it’s Yes or No on decision day.

The GPA is shaky, but I’d say your chances are pretty good (slightly higher than 50%), depending on how you presented yourself on the application - for example, did you just list your extracurriculars, or did you write about your responsibilities and leadership? You have strong test scores and notable involvement, but it’s truly out of your hands now, so just keep waiting until Feb. 12th. Good luck and Go Gators!
