Chances Please? :)

Hello, I applied RD to Richmond.

SAT- 1990
M-520
R-670
W-800

Senior Year Schedule-
AP Psych
IB Philosophy
IB English 12
AP Latin Vergil
IB 20th Century History
IB Math Studies

IB Candidate

Senior Year GPA-5.57 (weighted)
Cumulative- 4.5
*GPA is messed up because I attended a small, private school 9th/10th grade and upon transfering to do the IB Program all my credits came in as unweighted even though they were honors. Also affects class rank :(

ECs- basketball, soccer, xc, field hockey, lax, NHS, Student Council, 200+ community service hours, VP of a club, Model UN, sculpture class, lots of different clubs, etc.

anyone? I would really appreciate any insight :)

bump…

I will reluctantly put in my two cents…I don’t like the whole “chancing” thing. (see [Mythbusters: Predicting College Admission Richmond Admissions Blog](http://admissionsblog.richmond.edu/2010/01/19/mythbusters-predicting-college-admission/)) However, that said, your SATs are a little higher than my D. She did have a lot more AP classes. On a 4.0 scale she is about 4.5/3.9. Her ECs are, IMHO, what truly set her apart. She had a great essay that, I believe, really made her stand out. She was admitted ED. Your numbers seem to be solid with admissions stats. Make sure your essay really sells you as someone UR needs to have! Good luck!

My daughter is interested in this school. She has ADD and her GPA could be a little better, SAT scores 1850. Does anyone know if they “give” a little in certain cases?

Richmond generally emphasizes that each student is judged on an individual level, so perhaps even if some of your daughter’s stats aren’t the best, there may be other factors that are appealing to the admissions counselors.

If your daughter is interested, then it certainly wouldn’t hurt to apply. It’s totally possible she might have some other factors working in her favor.

Thank you PAVenturer, I hope your daughter is doung well at Richmond!
Anyone else have any incite? (regarding to my post…)
