Well, you are in Texas. That makes it much more difficult for you to gain admission... then there're the subjective parts to think about (essays, recommendations, geography, gender, race (in decreasing order of importance)).

You have a strong chance of admission. Still, if you're from Texas, and you carry these credentials, you ought to consider some schools like Rice but different from it (Yale? Northwestern? Vanderbilt? UChicago? UWashingtonSeattle?). It'd be a good adventure.

I love Rice, but going away to college has some positive side effects.

yup, i want to be premed. thanks for all the inputs! i've visited the campus countless times, and each time i visit, the more i want to attend this school. the campus. the atmosphere. the academics. the opportunities. everything suits me.

u have a good chance but then again...i wont throw platitude at you. alot of applicants will have outstanding applications and get rejected too because there is just not enough spots for everybody. so work very hard on your essay, which is what illuminates your personality and sets you apart from all the people with the same numbers as you. like the newspaper said: "there were seven people competing for each spot" so do something that sets you apart from the 6 other dudes/dudettes. good luck. and remember...always have alot of backups.

also, keep a eye out for possible recommendations. rice only needed two last year, so its not a big problem.

they dont have to be famous, etc etc

just have to know you very very well. they need to give not just a good rec, but a unique one. something that will set you apart from the others, add another side to your app.
