Chances plz..

I'll be applying to caltech in the fall, and i would like to get an early idea of my chances of getting in, so here goes:

Asian Indian, Male
SoCal Resident
High Income Family

GPA: 3.88 UW, 4.22 W (school doesn't rank, but i should be in top 5% of my class, btw my school is part of a very prestigious school district)

SAT I: 710 CR, 800 W, 800 M

ACT: 34

SAT II: 800 physics, 750 math iic, 750 USH

AP scores: Euro(5), bio(5), physics b(5), USH(5), eng lang (4)

Senior classes: ap gov, ap eng lit, calc 2 at UCI, ap chem, ap spanish, jazz band

Extracurriculars-

-Member of science olympiad for 4 years

-member of math club for 4 years (made AIME twice)

-played in school jazz band for 4 years (section leader for one year)

-participated in UCI COSMOS program over summer 07 and did research in the field of astronomy, in which i studied how spectroscopy can reveal information about stars despite their distance from Earth

that's about it, i'm afraid that i might seem too much like a robot to the admins and that i have no life, esp. due to my lack of EC's, but hopefully my passion for the math and sciences will shine through.

You should be fine. Passion and achievement in science or mathematics is most important. EC is useful to show that you still have some extra capacity.

b u m p 10 char

Have you won any awards? What did you get on AIME? You do seem interested in math and science and quite talented, but you aren't a math/sci "beast", which I have heard is what Caltech looks for. It probably gets many applicants who are like you "on steroids" if you catch my drift. I would advise bringing the SAT 2 Math to 800. Apart from that there isn't much you can do at this point so good luck, and if you can't get into Caltech there's always Berkeley...

my scores weren't terribly high, i got a 3 on the AIME sophomore year, and a 4 junior year. and for awards, i did win a medal for my state's science olympiad competition, however it was only for getting 6th place in designer genes (they gave medals to the top 8 placers out of ~15). my school, as a whole, got 13th place out of 21 schools.

also i'd like to mention there is a chance i will be a national merit semifinalist, unless i miss the cut-off by one point >_<
