Chances PLZZZZ?

Would having an uncle (actually my dads cousin) as a professor at Amherst give me any boost in admissions?

In my case, i have a huge upward trend in my grades. Here are my grades from sophomore year on (till time i apply)

10th grade grades
Biology C C
English B C
PE B A
Spanish 2 B B

then the grades went up a bit (i have 4x4 schedule)

AP Psychology B B (surprisingly hardest AP at school. 3 As given out of 72. The class was so hard it made the AP test a joke. 100% pass rate at my school)
Chemistry A A
English 11 A A
Honors Pre Calculus A A (hardest math class…generally harder than Calc here)

I am very passionate about languages and want to start in college in intermediate level spanish and japanese.

So what are my chances

sorry to be honest but this is for your own good...

you don't stand a chance.

I already figured that!

what about your freshman year grades?

3.4 academic
But 3.2 overall cause stupid non academic electives.

I just did the math, and my academic(only) gpa 9-12 is 3.5uw, 3.71w
I know it is low, but could having my uncle as a professor there be of any significance in admissions.

Just curious, what are your other schools under consideration?

Well my top choices (in no order)
are
McGill, U of Washington, UCLA, UCB, U of toronto, NYU, GWU, BU, Middlebury, gtown

A few of em im in 4 sure, the then some of them, not so much (UCB,UCLA,Mid,Gtown)

Are you sure you would want to go to Amherst anyway? I can't think of a whole lot of similarities between Amherst and UCB, McGill, NYU, etc.

Its not even one of my top choices. For the most part, I really want to go to school in a big city, with the exception of Middlebury (cause there awesome language program)

I was mostly just curious about what kind of boost having an uncle as a professor at Amherst would give. But since nobody will even answer...

Considering that there are no guarantees even if you are a legacy...an uncle probably wouldn't help you much. A parent, maybe.

Doesnt legacy just have to do with school attendance?
OR does it include actually working at a school.

The fact that your father's cousin is a member of the Amherst faculty will not enhance your chances for admissions unless he has connections in the admissions department and is willing to use them on your behalf. And even then it might not make much of a difference as you are not a legacy . .
