chances pretty please! will chance back :)

Soo looking to see what CC thinks of my chances for some of my schools on my list so far… I take the hardest courses available at my school (IB Diploma), volunteer on a weekly basis, commit to dance (since I was about 10 or so), etc. but I have "okay" test scores. I'm hoping to re-take the ACT because I did well with hardly any prep but would like to get a few points higher (unlikely, but worth the effort!) for RD applications. Thanks ahead of time!

Thanks ahead of time, & I will gladly chance back anyone who asks! I know my chances at G'town are slim-none, but I looovee it so it's better to just try anyway.

I’m pretty sure you can get into georgetown, but your SAT isn’t super high. Everything else, especially your leadership positions, are very solid. Your courses are really challenging, which is a big factor! I think you’re set, now juust have a great essay and great recs (:

Chance me? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/993676-am-i-aiming-too-high-too-low.html</a></p>

And let me know if I’m going too high or too low haha. THanks! (:

Thanks for the response! I hope you’re right, I’m confident about everything EXCEPT my scores & my GPA could be a bit higher.

Any other responses?

To me, your GPA is pretty high! Maybe take the SAT once more and see what you get?

You’re resume looks excellent except for the test scores. Get those up and you’ve got as good a shot as anyone.

(Chance me, por favor)

thanks, & to answer both: i’m done with the sat’s, took them 2x, once i bombed & then the second time my scores randomly shot up 200 points. so i think i just got really lucky!

but i will be retaking the ACTs in october for RD applications (i’m expecting to get deferred from G’town…) in hopes for a higher score since i took it once after reading two pages in one of the ACT books.

what is your weighted GPA out of…because it seems very unusual to go from 3.86 UW to 4.9 weighted. Does your school use the 0-100 scale?

Don’t underestimate yourself, i think you have a decent shot at georgetown, BC you also have a good shot. Rutgers you’re pretty much in, NYU i’m unsure. Really if you raise those test scores, you’re looking very good.

Thanks for the response!

About the WGPA, my friend basically said I probably have a 4.9W, but I have no clue & I needed to put something down… So, really, just disregard it. I’ve taken all honors/IB options available to me & I’ve had 1 B as a final grade in my entire high school career (sophomore year, in an honors class so it goes up to an A with WGPA), so if that gives a clue to what my real WGPA might be… Hahah sorry about the confusion, I probably should have deleted that part!

shameless bumping :)

i just found out my rank is the top 3%, 8th out of 270. does that hurt/help my chances?

That’ll help a lot.

I think you have a decent chance at all those schools, only your SAT will hurt you

chance me?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/999338-chance-me-ucla-ucsd-nyu-really-good-ec.html</a></p>

Georgetown EA: low-reach
Boston College RD: low-reach/match
NYU RD: match
Rutgers RD: in

Thanks guys! I know my SAT is ehhh, especially for G’town, but hopefully I’ll do well on my SAT II’s & ACTs in October.

Any more? :)

I have to say, ED at G’town just might give you the bump you need to get in! Good luck with everything.

Chance me please. My thread is named “What Chance Do I Have”

Sent from my SPH-M900 using Tapatalk

Thanks, I’m hoping so too! I visited over the summer, as well, so maybe they will like my interest in their school? :)

From what I’ve read, schools do take into account clampus visits/tours as an applicant’s interest in the school and factor that in into admission decisions.

Sent from my SPH-M900 using Tapatalk

i think you have a reasonable chance at georgetown, even with your scores. just write an awesome essay and see how it goes. BC i think would be a low reach for you. chance me back? just look for my username

Your ECs are ridiculously good. Like me, your SAT(or ACT) is just “okay”. Im gonna say Georgetown + Boston College: low reach
NYU + Rutgers: in

Thanks guys! I always take things like this with a grain of salt, but I definitely feel less ridiculous for applying… I’ll chance you back ASAP! :)

Any more?

You have a fair chance at georgetown despite your weak SAT scores…your devotion to your extracurriculars as well as your high class rank should be enough for admissions officers to realize that you are a student with the potential to accomplish great things on campus and through the years after graduation.
Your accomplishments in dance - all that are worth mentioning - should be provided in the additional information area should you think that they could greatly improve your appeal to the admissions office.
I recommend retaking SATs and ACTs and studying hard for future tests but you’re on a good track so far :)

Let’s hope so! I do plan on taking the ACTs again & SAT II’s, all next month. Hopefully I’ll get at least a 31 composite on the ACT, otherwise it’ll feel like a waste if I get the same score… Hahahahah :)

Anyone else?
