I'm taking 3 AP classes this year (Stats, English, Physics B), but I'm going to end up taking the US History AP test (we don't have anything but regulars for US Hist). I took Comp Sci AP sophomore year, but didn't take the test. I plan on taking these AP classes next year: Gov/Eco AP, English AP, Calculus AP, Biology AP, and maybe Spanish AP.

ECs: President of HOSA (medical club), involved in knitting booties for premies, (the usual: SHS, NHS, Student Council, Mu Alpha Theta, Red Cross Club), I did something in the sumemr with the homeless and HIV/AIDS victims of inner-city Houston.

Awards: UIL Spelling and Vocabulary 2nd @ Districts, 13th Regionals, This year I'm probably going to get 1st @ Districts, top 10 in Regionals. I'm gonna do HOSA medical spelling, probably top 3 @ regionals; top ten @ state. I'm gonna do UIL stuff for choir. I probably will win like 2nd or 1st best in Botany @ the Alamo Regional Science Fair. Won a couple essay contests.

SAT a bit low for princeton, but your GPA is good. And everything else is pretty good. since your a junior, take the SAT as many times as possible; maybe once in next spring and again next fall. If you can get that score up, then you will have a better chance.

Well, I'm trying really hard to make all my sections 700+. I'm trying to get all my grades really high up.

My mom is a single parent (divorced), and she makes like 45k-50k (she hasn't remarried). Does that help any (not that it helps me because I'm never going to get a car...)?

It really helps that you are hispanic lowish-income. that's a statement of fact, not meant to be offensive in any way. good job with your grades and schedule btw, those are very good. you have a chance. of course everyone is a reach for ptown.

You obviously have a better shot at Brown, considering it has much less prestige than Princeton (and its a bowl of left-wing, weed-smoking, kerry-voting hippies) I'd say you're getting deferred, possibly accepted to Princeton ED. It'll be close.

"...Brown, considering it has much less prestige than Princeton (and its a bowl of left-wing, weed-smoking, kerry-voting hippies)"

What? I hope you're joking. Princeton is more conservative than Brown. That is a face. But there's no need to insult either institution! Brown ain't a bowl of weed! Unless it's a bowl of ivy...

I guess I'm just paranoid because I know that Princeton would be more of a reach, but I really would like to go there. I'm really trying to get all my scores 700+. How much is rank hurting my chances for Princeton if I have like a 96.5+ (weighted, including freshman grades) GPA? I think I'll shine through my essays. :)

I haven't taken the subject tests yet, but these are predicted scores (pretty close): 750+ Math IIC, 750+ US History, 700+ Biology/700+ Physics (depending on how much I'll prep for the Physics AP test)
