Hi, i’m an upcoming senior and I was wondering what my hypothetical chances are getting into Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service. Georgetown is my #1 choice and has been for a couple of years.
Here are my qualifications:
Unweighted GPA: 3.85
Weighted GPA: 4.09
Classes next year: AP Gov/Econ, APLit, APES, AP Stats, Leadership
ACT: Composite 36, English 36, Math 36, Reading 36, Science 36, Writing 10
SAT II: Korean 800, Math 800, USH 750
PSAT: 1470
APs: Calc AB (5), USH (4), Japanese (4)
EC:
Korean School TA --> Teaching kids Korean since Freshman year, attended the same school in elementary school
Implemented a new basketball club into the Korean School
YMSL: Young Men’s Service League, Over 20 volunteer hours school year for volunteering, held multiple leadership positions in the league
Leadership: Was the Class of 2018’s Vice President in the 2016-2017 year and will be the ASB Social Manager for the 2017-2018 year
Japanese National Honor Society: Been a member since Freshman year, VP for 2017-2018 year
MUN: Member since Sophomore year, actively participated in multiple conferences
Played Basketball for my school and for rec leagues, taught kids basketball and I have job experience as a basketball coach for SkyHawks sports camp
Background:
Moved to Korea in 5th grade and attended a public school (was supposed to go to International school to pursue Western education but could not)
Moved back in 8th grade but father stayed in Korea --> only my mother, brother, and I here in the US
Interest in Georgetown:
Visited twice
Currently attending the Georgetown Summer Program Foreign Policy Immersion (3 week program)
