I got rejected from Haverford Fall Early.
I have strong essays. I know my grades aren't that strong though...
I also have 5 letters of rec, and an exceptionally flattering one from my principal. Will that make any difference?
I am a white, jewish girl. That doesn't help me at all, I know. But i have personality (think sarah silverman but a little bit less vulgar)!

Colleges:
Winter Early to Bryn Mawr
Swarthmore (I had a ridiculously fantastic essay)
Amherst
UVirginia
Barnard
Wellesley (Another ridiculously fantastic essay + excellent interview)
Trinity Coll<<<<is this a safe enough safety?
Vassar (legacy)
Northwestern (legacy)
New College of Florida
University of Central Florida
University of Florida

kthx!

I've actually never heard of most of those schools. But I'm canadian...

Your extracurriculars and recs are good, so that might make up for your grades. I don't really understand GPAs, do you have any idea what a 3.6 would be in percent? ie 90% average?

a 3.6 would be like a B+ or an A-, barely scraping 90%, basically.

You look like a very strong candidate to me. Swarthmore and Amherst are reaches for anybody, but you certainly have a chance. Every place else looks very likely. Sorry about Haverford. Your scores are slightly higher than my son's and he's hoping to get in RD. Oh well!

i think you're in good shape for Winter ED at Bryn Mawr. my daughter was accepted Fall ED and her stats were similar to yours.

btw, a 3.6 is an A-, not a B+ which would be a 3.3

also, i never understand why people send too many teacher rec's... i have heard numerous times that it is not advantageous... in addition to your 2 teacher rec's, maybe one extra rec from someone other than a teacher is o.k., but sending too much stuff is frequently frowned upon (though i'm not sure where BMC stands on this subject.)

good luck with BMC Winter ED!
