As ashamed of it as I am, I’ll come right out and say I have a less than 3.0 GPA overall.

But, I did get a 31 on my ACT and I’m planning on retaking it because I feel like my ACT will really be my saving grace.

I also have a plan. I’m taking 3 AP and 1 IB class(es) this year. If I do well, like 3.5+ GPA for 1st semester and then, say I raise my ACT to a 32, what would you say my chances for getting in are? I know my overall GPA is flat-out awful (because I SUCKED Freshmen and Sophomore years), but if I get a really good GPA for Senior Year 1st semester and apply in January, do I have a good chance?

Last year someone got in with a 2.9 W and a 31 ACT. So you do have a shot. I wouldn’t worry about taking the ACT again, unless you’re GPA is THAT low and you feel on edge! If you’re deferred then you should just try and pull your GPA up, but I wouldn’t worry about it too much. They take scores into consideration over GPA for some reason.
Oh and if you’re instate then that gives you a better shot!

From what I understand talking to all sorts of people here in Ohio, OSU does value test scores over GPA. In fact, I would say test scores then class rank with GPA last. There is hope for you…but yes, I would take it again if I were you. A few points would make a difference if your GPA is that low.
