Chances Question

A classmate of mine is applying to Yale and Dartmouth. Here's as much as I know of his stats:

Top 15% at least in a class of 377.
GPA: 4.0 or so weighted
IB program--HL English, HL History, HL Math, Physics (SL)
SATs OK, low 600s

Teacher recs will tend towards his dynamic personality
Involvement in NHS, MHS, Interact and a couple other clubs
Main EC is Model UN--he's an amazing public speaker and has been very committed to it. So I would say his essays are also really good.

Black male from VA

I told him I thought he'd get in. What do you think?

His EC's are sparse, and his class rank is decent, but not great. If his SATs are low 600s, I'd say he doesn't have a very good shot (he's at least 150 pts off Yale's 25th percentile and 100 pts off Dartmouth's). Model UN is a great club (I do it, and love it), but it probably isn't enough...

I hate to use the word "reach", but I'd say the chances are fairly slim. Then again, admission to both schools is slim for most people.

no hell get in hes black
-what 99% of college confidential people will tell you

but in reality, no he has no chance at all
