Chances/questions.

Hello. This is my first post on this site.

I've been lurking on this site for a few months now, but it didn't seem too friendly for non-perfect students.

I am a Massachusetts resident. African American. I go to school in Boston.

I have a 2.85 GPA (this is not including my senior grades)

1880 SATs (1230 M+CR)

My GPA freshman year was a 2.53, 10th grade was around a 2.95 and last year was around a 3.1. My first term grades for senior year average to about a 3.4

Football, Choir, MMA, student forum, and volunteering as a teacher's assistant are on my EC list.

I would just like to know my chances. And in the event I don't get in, I will probably end up transferring in, which brings me to my questions:

How difficult is it to transfer into? And do people tend to get housing as transfers? I know it isn't GUARANTEED, but does anybody happen to know if i'd likely be able to live on campus as a sophomore transfer?

EDIT: I'm applying RD, not EA.

SAT scores are fine. Hopefully they take note of improving grades. The question might be have you taken the most challenging courses your school offers? I have no inside information, you should realize. Good luck.

Keep in mind UMass Amherst accepts something like 67% of all applicants. Which means that even when your stats are below average, you still have a decent shot.

And your test scores are actually quite a bit above average. Add in a steadily improving GPA, a senior year GPA that is at the school average, and your URM status, and I think your chances are actually quite good.

Housing is guaranteed for freshman transfers. After freshman year, it is the luck of the draw.
