SAT: 1350 (I only took it once, and I actually fell asleep whilst taking the exam. I did not, however, write that into my applications).

I spent my essay detailing my 3 years of work experience, motives and accomplishments; as well as my interest in being a Linguist, having come from an immigrant family in the extraordinarily diverse City of Greater Miami.

I'm currently enrolled in a CC, and have been for only one semester. During which, I took 17 credits, and got all A's (my College does not rank, nor does it offer A+s or A-s). I'm currently taking 13 credits, if I remember correctly; to wit: Calculus 2, a political science class, Intro to Cultural Anthropology, and Biology.

I got my Letter of Recommendation from the English Department Chair, and A glowing review from my English teacher and a Humanities professor.

I applied to:

Temple
Norhteastern
Boston University
Boston College

Not only did I fall asleep, but for the time that I was awake, the proctor all but accused me of cheating. I guess after seeing my eyes so far shut for part of the test, anything above a squint was me trying to filter in as many answers from the other testers as possible.

Did you get exactly a 4.0 GPA? If so, I'd definitely say you are in at Temple and Northeastern. I'd say border line at BU and I'm guessing a rejection to BC. BC only accepts 10.5% a year and has very high standards. If I were you I would have said why I want to transfer, after all that's what the personal statement is supposed to be about (if your using common app). I'm also applying to Northeastern, so you are my competition. Good Luck!

Heh, well BU made me submit 2 essays: The first on why I want to study there (which is where I talked about my major of choice and the city), and the second one was a 'Why am I Transferring'/Personal Statement (which is where I discussed my work experience and the resolution of the problems in my personal life).

And, yes, I got all As (the highest my CC offers) in my 5 classes.

Thanks for the input, and watch your back. ;)

Oh, well you have probably a real good shot at BU. I assumed out of 2400 because you were sleeping. That is pretty impressive you pulled off that scored. You beat me on the SAT but Northeastern doesn't ask for the scores unless you have less than 24 credits.

Yep, I'm in-state. I also applied to Elon University. I've seen all three of those Boston schools quite a bit. If you want a major city experience, BU might be the best.

Have you ever been to Boston? It is quite different from other cities and so are the people. A lot of people from out of MA call us Mass-holes. I hope you don't mind the cold...

I've actually been to Boston a few times, and have family friends there (my sister went to Harvard, and she was good friends with the Harvard Police Chief's daughter). I love the weather, and the little I've seen of the people.

After spending so much time in the largely diametrical Miami, I need the big, centralized city change.

Northeastern is down the street from Fenway and BU is more in the area of the TD Bank North Garden. Personally I like Northeastern more because it has a campus and is in the city. Keep in mind Northeastern for most is 5 years and you don't get as many breaks as most schools due to the Co-Ops. There is so much to do in Boston; it really has it all.

I am pretty sure you will be accepted to Temple as their transfer admissions rate is over 75%. Though I would not want to go there. I attended a transfer session a few weeks ago and it was very uninformative, most of the session was dedicated to showing us how to fill out an application, I was also informed that transfer orientation is taken online, no form of NSO is available to transfers at all. Also, from what I can understand there is no available on campus housing for transfer students, the closest being the off campus housing six blocks away from the campus. Not to bash Temple because they have a lot to offer and I know a few students, but I am generally unimpressed with how they value their transfers. Just letting you know.

I had no idea about that, and I'll definitely take it under consideration. Fortunately, if I head towards Temple, my 2 year+ girlfriend will also be schooling Philly, so we can split the cost of an apartment.

But before I make any decisions (aside from actually having to be accepted into these Universities, which I am very nervous about), I will be touring the schools, and speaking with counselors and students.

I can't wait to see watch some games in Foxboro (and that includes when my Miami Dolphins roll into town, though I know I shouldn't be so excited).
