Chances & Race

Hello,

I was wondering if there is a space on the UC application to put down race...I didn't see one so I was a bit confused. Does it ask once you've submitted?

Also, do I have to declare every race that I am, or can I just choose one? I know that UC's aren't supposed to look at race; however, my parents believe that putting down one will help my chances.

Thanks! (I know this may not be the exactly right section; however, not many people go into the UC forum section)

But for your question, the answer is that the University of California system, by state law, is not supposed to consider race at all in admission decisions. That must be the explanation for the application form you saw.
