Background: white Catholic male from GA; not a legacy; deferred EA

what do you guys think? any comments will be helpful

It sure seems so to me. Send any additional honors or awards since EA but you look great.

Hmmm...I am having a hard time understanding why you were deferred. How was your essay? What did you convey in it about yourself/your personality?

sunshadow,
my essay dealt with my determination to overcome the obstacles that hiking for 10 days in the wilderness presented me while at Philmont. you may be right in thinking that my essay was the reason I was deferred though. it may have only been decent.

I think you'll get in. I got in EA to ND with about the same coursework and grades, bigger school and slightly higher test scores. I took a chance and wrote a risky essay and it worked for ND. I did however, get deferred at BC. Who knows what they want.

Seems like you are on the high side of the deferred students so hopefully the RD applicant pool willl have lower stats and you'll shine. I agree that you should send a short note to admissions with your first semester grades.

algoss how did u make ND and not make BC. Not to say anything or point out anything but thats just weird. I thought BC should be easier than ND.

I have no idea. It's actually caused a lot of posts on the BC thread.

I have nothing bad in my application-my mom is a HS college counselor so believe me- it was clean. I go to a competitive public high school. 400 kids, I'm top 10% (actually top 5% but they rank in decile) 34 on ACT, 3.9 UW, 4.3 W, 4 years football, 3 years wrestlings, 2 years baseball, 2 years Peer Resources, Community Service, Drama etc...

It had to be my essay. I wrote two and my mom had the AP Comp teacher at her work and another counselor (neither know me) read them. They both nixed the typical one (how I've grown though football) and loved the risky one (the stupidest thing I've ever done). I went with the risky one. I've gotten in 2 other schools early w/ merit money plus ND with that essay. I guess it didn't work at BC.

I went through all the deferred posts for BC and my stats are above mostly everyone so maybe I'll get a different reader in RD. I always thought I'd go to BC and never thought I had a shot at ND.

i was worry i wouldnt even have a shot for BC not to mention ND. Thank God i got in both. i actually found out in school for BC, the counselor had a letter of everyone who applied and their results, lucky me, i was even more surprised when i got home.

Congrats-
Do you know which one you're going to?

ND hands down.

yeah, I got into BC EA too, and I just sent ND my first semester grades, so hopefully that will help.

I think you have a good chance. I agree, your essay may have been the issue.

bump________

I got into BC EA too. I had a great experience when i toured it. Looks great, but i LOVE ND more than anything. I think you have a really good chance.
