I'm thinking of a math-doing boy scout as the "picture" I want to paint. BTW, the career I want to get into is dentistry (the surgery side), but I thought that might complicate things (do you think so?) since I would then be a math-whiz eagle scout dentist to be.

I think you'll get into cornell with no problems at all. I don't know if saying you want to be a dentist will complicate things. Are you going to apply to higher Ivies too? Because you have a good chance at a lot of those also..

scores and GPA are competitive, and strong ECs in my opinion
i would be careful to not paint yourself as the "math math" type . .because from what I've heard, Cornell likes diversified and well-rounded people

Yeah, I applied to Princeton ED, but I got deffered so we'll see how that goes later...So you think that I'd have a "good" (i.e. as good as anyone can) chance?

So the pigeonholing as a math-type might be a bad idea? In all actuality I'm REALLY interested in political philosophy and astronomy, but I don't have any EC's that attest to that (but I do in math). I'm good at math, but I'm not really gung hoe about learning it. What do you think?

Just my opinion . . lol, i'm applying RD as well
the math would work for something, like, say Engineering, but I think you need to make yourself seem like a all rounded individual, not just a math nerd

k, that's good, because I'm not a math nerd. Well, maybe a little :I So if I ditch the "math nerd" thing and just present it as one aspect of my personality, what do you think my chances would be?

Which would be? 1) Sure thing, 2) Great, 3) Pretty Good, 4) So-so, 5) don't bother. Yeah yeah, I'm trying to quantize things but remember, I'm sortof a math guy ;>

i think you sound great. but be careful to paint yourself only as you are- you are strong enough to stand on your own without a hook. your scores are competitive and so is your GPA. you're very solid, just be yourself.
