how do u kno ur in the top hs in ur state
is there a ranking site or something?

yeah like its some ranking. were the top public high school excluding magnet schools

wait y aren't magnet schools counted?
would that push ur h.s. ranking down or up?

well if they are then we are then number 4 school in CA

bump bump bump

i dont really understand wut ur looking for wen u post ur stats up
do u want 17/18 yr. old kids analyzing ur chances? how helpful can we possibly be? Is it to gain some confidence or what not? honestly, none of us have any idea what adcoms are looking for. we would be little help to u and it is pretty much too late to change anything. ur in the dark, and so are we.

bottom line: chance threads are useless. sry but it's the truth

bankai is cruel. :)
u got as good a chance as the next person. make urself stand out, write good essays, etc. good luck

all i have to say is:
ewww nanai. ewww. thinking u can judge me like that :)

bankai if u were gonna do that, u coulda at least got my entire first name, and not leave out a letter. and i can judge u whatever way i wan, u nonconforming asian. :)

all i have to say is... i agree with BanKai.

besides, Indian female who plays the piano--ohhh there's a rarity!

ok well other people post too. whats with all the hostility? haha

thank u chlor.
ah but if u went to penn threads, they're even more hostile

ok wow i guess it was my mistake i posted. sorry

aww u made me feel bad. here's my honest opinion:
ok stats-wise ur fine.
but wut chlor said is absolutely rite. u look like a stereotypical indian applicant.
what i would do is to try to focus on other stuff too
being azn, lots of people play piano. i kinda downplayed that, putting all my awards in the "additional comments." i really emphasized other stuff that i had to balance it out, make me look more well-rounded

the point is to make urself different, stand out. hope that helps (though a comment from a high-school senior may not mean much)

i'm asian (chinese) and i play piano, which is even more common.
its ok to highlight ur piano stuff, i did (listed all competitions won after 9th grade, and send it cd), and i got in ed. so dont worry about it, flaunt what talent u have.

^ pssstttt she has karate ^

^pstt he quit piano, so hes trying to make his failure look better by attacking others who still play^

it has been established that they don't look at your race/demographic when making decisions..... by laxnfan

soo... don't owrry about being an asian playing piano. what i would not say, though, is that "i am the only asian i know who plays piano.." which can go for any race, lol. while playing piano may be common, play it up! you never know. take a spin on it, who knows what you can do... i've read brilliant essays about softball and baseball, and as common as those are you'd think the topics are overdone... these were ivy-accepted essays. if you really want to play up piano, think about it and don't just talk about the thrill of performing in front of a crowd, etc etc what everybody else probably says...

easier said than done

agreed (10 characters)
