Notes:

*I'm an extremely talented writer and have won awards for my writing
*I'm planning on majoring in Finance
*I have one of the most, if not the most rigorous schedules in the school

I'm pretty sure I'll be applying RD, but it could end up being ED. My GC thinks I've got a 60% chance of getting in, but what do you think my chances are?

*I got the 640 in math because I'm terrible at geometry, the trig/alg. 2 questions I don't have a problem with. I took geometry over the summer rather than in school, and the teacher never really taught us anything; she just gave us a book and recommended problems & let us fend for ourselves. So I haven't really learned geometry.

Does anyone know the acceptance rate at Stern, specifically for Finance?

Do you think I'm better off applying ED with my current stats, or applying RD. With my school's wacky GPA system, I could get a B in all my classes & end up with a weighted 5.0, putting me up around top 20-25%. If I get at least 2 A's, I should be able to crack the top 15%. 4-5 A's could get me into the top 10%. Our GPA system if you want to know.....

6- A in an AP class
5- B in an AP class OR A in a regular class
4- C in an AP class OR B in a regular class
3- C in a regular class
2- D in any class
1- F in any class

Does anyone know how often ED applicants get a decent financial aid package? Princeton Review has NYU ranked #1 in "Worst Financial Aid" & I'm going to be applying for financial aid so if I decided to go ED I may get stuck with a horrible financial aid package. My family would probably be able to pay for 30k of the 45k cost of NYU.

I don't think ED is binding(you could say no), and I heard ED gets BETTER financial aid, but I would like to hear from some other people in this subject

just keep in mind, Stern does NOT defer you if you get rejected from ED. If you get rejected ED, you're out of the running. No shot for RD.

also, your class rank will hurt you quite a bit with your chances. Get that math SAT up. However, your ACT is decent, and will give you a shot. Don't pay attention too much to your AP's, as they don't influence your admissions TOO much. Also, on your EC's, you have anything else? Something else that also shows your leadership qualifications...aka, captain of a sports team, president of another club. Any music? You want to be well rounded.

u said ur an extremely talented writer? wow you're modest sarcasm"

Actually I did well on the essays, I just didn't answer all the multiple choice questions (a lot of them) because I had no idea how much time was left as the proctor didn't tell us & they took away my watch b/c they said it wasn't allowed.

Considering this summer I beat out 900+ students for the "Most Talented Writer" award at a local college, & many of the applicants were already college students, I'd say I'm a pretty talented writer.

BTW, is this board always this bitter? I've posted this same message on about 12-15 boards & no one has ever mentioned anything about my writing.
