Chances...really bad stats

Hi guys, I need some serious help here!
I'm an Indian male trying for U Michigan, Purdue U and UT Austin.I got REALLY LOW STATS. I'm trying for Aerospace Engineering. My school doesn't rank. Here are my stats : -

Grade 9 : 80%ish
Grade 10 : 83.4%
Grade 11 : 65%
Grade 12 : 76.7%

SAT : .C.Reading - 560, Math - 610, Writing - 540(I know, I know)

OK Recom. letters, not much ECs and can put up an OK Essay.

What do you guys say? Do I ever apply to these Universities??
Or Do I retake the Jan 26 SATs...

610 math SAT with the subpar gpa trying to major in engineering..uh..not looking good

1% chance since you UMich GPA is ~2.0 and your SATs are well below the mean

I'm sorry, but if you haven't even applied yet I don't see it happening. Consider retaking the SATs ASAP, apply to some less selective universities and work really hard for a year, then try again for 08-09 if it's really where you want to go.

your stats are good for like..
central michigan and eastern michigan.

Agreed with annarborchick, if you really want to get into Michigan your best option is going to a community college this year and transfering in next year.

Purdue may take you if you improve your SATs, their deadline is somwhere in March, so try for that

sry, but no, u will not get in.

Absolutely no chance at Michigan or any of the others for the matter...

Try taking the ACT. Some people do better on that test opposed to the SAT. Also apply even if you only have a slim chance of getting in, who knows you might get in. i got in with a 24 ACT which is way below average.

I would have to agree w/ebuckets on that statement cuz my a friend of mine got in last year into the music school w/a 23 on his act and another friend who could've got in w/a 3.0gpa but declined his acceptance despite very high act score. So take the act and score very high on it especially math and science and apply or else ur SOL.

I agree with you guys on the fact that people can get in with low ACTs. People from my school have gotten in with scores ranging from 21-26 (NOT URM). But the OP's grades are very low for the schools listed and his school does not rank.

But the ACTs are on Feb 15. The deadline is Feb 1st...
Also I attended an Indian curriculum. Do you think that will work for me?

Oh so you're international. University of Michigan is on a rolling admissions plan so you get accepted as they go through the batches. February 15 is the last time for you to submit an application but at that point it's too late for even Harvard material. Forget about applying to Michigan, you don't have a chance. Are you a us citizen? You should apply to schools like Wayne State, Eastern Michigan, and Central Michigan University. Since it seems like your goal is engineering, you may want to apply to Oakland Community College, since it's cheap you can just save money and work hard till you can transfer to UMich after two years. I don't mean to be rude but this is the typical "I'm Indian, I'm not smart enough to do well in India because they're aren't enough places so I want to come to the US to study thread." If that's the case stop reaching so high. Just try to get into some college. Will you be able to afford Michigan? You can't get financial aid unless you're a citizen.

No. I'm not a citizen. And I want to go to US coz of a BETTER educational system. Not to be rude...LOL. I'm thinkin' of US mainly for Aerospace Engg.
How about Purdue? And I don't need Financial Aid

This is the link I found in Duke's site for Indian % to US GPA conversion:
http://www.gradschool.duke.edu/about_us/directors_of_graduate_studies/administrative_documents/Credentials.pdf
Do you think the same would apply for Under Grads?

looks like you have an A average according to that chart...perhaps you have a chance...apply but also have some safety schools...that scale might not apply...it's more competitive than you think and just because it's an A they may not look at it like an A....

That is why I posted the link! I have a couple of friends in International Schools who have taken pretty rigorous courses. They said that my papers were HARD.
Can any Indian nationals advise on this?
How about Penn State or Purdue?
