*****I have been rejected from Notre Dame Early Action and Rice Early Decision.........any hope at all for Cornell....My Class Rank Sucks...... =-(

Your SAT’s are in the range and so is your GPA. You are taking AP’s, which is good. Your EC’s show dedication and focus, but lack any real leadership roles. All in all, your EC’s are borderline.

However, like you said yourself, your class rank is mediocre. This is further exacerbated by the fact that you are Indian - as you are expected to be on par with oriental Asians. You do however, have a chance of getting in.

Thanks, My Class rank is destroying me…

I am so scared…

You are probably premed too, which doesn’t help. Your AP exam scores are sorta low. I get the impression of a kid who is bright but doesn’t try that hard. I think it might help somewhat that you are from Texas. I think score-wise, you have a shot.

Scores are fine, but EC’s are mediocre at best. They show focus, which is good, but I don’t see a solid leadership role. Well, maybe the youth mentor, but who knows how big that really is. The rank is killing you as well. I’m rather surprised you were rejected at those other schools, but at this point Cornell will be a reach to you.

^^^ Fudgemaster, why did you assume I am pre-med, because I am Indian LOL, no I just want to major in Economics, and from there go to Law School…But yeah, I agree with both you Cornell is a huge reach, especially with a terrible class rank… I didn’t try that hard in High School, I worked really hard my freshman year (I had a 4.0 unwieghted, and a 4.5 weighted) and then I slacked off sophmore and junior year( I had a 3.8 unweighted, and a 4.2 weighted)…The messed up thing is I applied to CAS which is one of the hardest schools in Cornell to get into…

^ I tihnk he assumed because of tihs

ECs:
Fencing-All 4 Years of HS
Fencing Club- All 4 Years of HS
Pre-Medical Club- All 4 Years of HS <-----------------------------------

but anyway, your stats are average so theres a chance of getting in but i actually dont think it will be very high =(. why? because you are indian!! and there are plenty of other indians with high grades so you need sometihng that would stand out and i’m not really seeing it. being asian is not good!! anyway your AP scores are kind of low, sat II is soso, I think your ECs are fine, especially if you will bepre med, but you plan on pre law. best of luck

^^ Oh yah, that ec (the pre-med one) was cuz my parents wanted me to be a part of it, and my school doesn’t have a (pre-law one) so…

" You are probably premed too, which doesn’t help. Your AP exam scores are sorta low. I get the impression of a kid who is bright but doesn’t try that hard. I think it might help somewhat that you are from Texas. I think score-wise, you have a shot. "

The Texas part might be, but then again it might not be. I got into CAS last week (LL), and I talked with a guy who got into CALS and both are from Dallas. I’m not sure if they’re super specific on quotas from regions or anything but I feel like it may have helped me. I don’t have stellar stats (at least IMO.)

^ How did you get into CAS last week, I thought Cas doesn’t have rolling admssions.

I am happy, I just got waitlisted at WashU woot, woot…I serouisly thought I was going to get rejected at WashU. I know they waitlist everyone, but still, this is better after 1 early decision rejection and 1 early action rejection.

(LL) = likely letter

Thankfully, my school does not rank.

^^^ Lucky, Unforantly all the publics in Texas rank, because Texas has some ■■■■■■■■ state law, saying that if you are in the top 10 percent of your class, you can get into any public university in texas. Its ■■■■■■■■, because there isn’t any hoslitic way of measuring the applicant, its all based on class rank…

Yep. I have a friend that goes to a terrible school and graduated with a 88GPA (weighted) with almost all regular classes and was in the top 10 percent. He is at UT. I’ve got friends who took tons of AP classes, and have like a 94.5GPA (weighted) that are just outside the 10 percent mark, and got rejected from UT.

Tell me there isn’t something wrong with this picture. I think that UT’s reputation would skyrocket if it didn’t have that stupid law and could admit the best students that apply, just like any other school out there.

Alas, I’ll stop jacking threads about Cornell now.

^^^ Lol, seriously, if UT just took a more hoslitic approach, it could be compared to UCLA and UCB…good job on getting that likely letter from CAS…

i should be the nervous one with a 2080 SAT !!!

…jerk

:P

^ u probably stand a better chance than me, if you have a better rank…

dont know how much rank means to cornell… i think sats are better judgments but who knows

yeah i am 2/124
real tiny, crappy, public school

97.9 uw, 99.7 w

it would be interesting if one of us got in and the other didn’t (of course, hopefully we both get in…cc’ers need to stick together) because then we could see what Cornell’s really after…well…kind of
