chances/recommendations?

I have a list of school I want to go to in mind, but I'd like to see some recommendations first.

SAT scores: 690 Math / 630 CR / 680 Writing (retaking soon, hoping to get 800 on Math this time, 700 in CR and Writing)
SAT II scores: 800 Math IIC / 700 Bio (M) / 690 US History (will take US History again, might add Physics)

APs taken: 5 US History / 5 Calculus AB
APs I will take in '08: Spanish Language, Calculus BC, Computer Science AB, Physics E and M

Overall Average: 95.5 (school doesn't rank or use GPA)
Notable(?) course details: Took all math honors classes since freshman year (except Calculus AB [took precalculus at the same time last year]

Currently taking Multivariate Calculus, AP Spanish, AP Physics, AP Computer Science. Other classes are Government, Early British Literature. (note: school places limits on number of AP classes you can take, so I couldn't take AP English classes). Full courseload.

Extracurriculars:
Key Club
Stock Market Game Club
Free Math Tutoring Volunteer/Coordinator
Chess Club
Symphonic Band (Trumpet)
Math Team
Church (catholic) volunteer (cleaning up after masses, attending meetings, etc.)
(note: no sports teams, but I do play volleyball. Couldn't try out for the team [complications like a sprained ankle prevented me from playing during tryouts, but I hope to try again this year])
No jobs (I'm more of a volunteer person)

Other stuff ? :
Low income family
First generation going to college
Languages: English, Spanish, Vietnamese

I guess that's all I have to say for now. So any suggestions (Preferably schools in the northeast or California)?

What are you interests? Do you have an idea of what you want to major in?

you seem to have medicore extracurriculars, and it doesn't help that you dont have a leadership position in any of them.

you also dont seem to have any awards

based on what you gave, id say that all the ivies are still reaches for you

Right now, I'm leaning toward Math (and maybe computer science), but I'm considering engineering.

Carnegie Mellon might be a good school to look into.

How important are leadership positions in the admissions process?

have you considered tufts university? its an excellent math school and quite prestigious. I'm sure it would be a good match for you. I'd suggest checking it out.

oh its in NE (MA to be precise) and did I mention its an excellent math school :P

I guess you need to work on that SAT score, bring it up a little. I think I'm gonna second Tufts for you.

In California, look at UC Berkeley, Pomona, Claremont, and Harvey Mudd.

If you can get the SATs up then consider Caltech and Stanford--but the problem with these is that I see no academic awards or competitions, even.

I'd third Tufts but only if you bring up your SAT scores. Have you tried the ACT? It's a reach, but you should try!

I feel like it's too late at this point to consider the ACT, so I guess I'm stuck with trying to raise the SAT scores. And regarding the lack of awards/competitions, I guess there isn't much I can do about that at this point. But anyway, are there any safeties worth looking at?
