<p>Right off the bat, I'll show you my numbers because, you know, I'm merely a statistic.</p>

<p>I've probably spent about 1000 hours after school in the drama department. I've lettered in drama, earned a 2-Honor Bar Thespian designation, made Top Ten Thespians, headed lights and props crew many times, and directed a lab play once (which only one student each year is selected to do).</p>

<p>Now that we have gotten that out of the way...
I am extremely nervous about applying to colleges. I was quite a slacker during my freshman and sophomore years; I took some honors classes, sure, but I had pretty bad grades. Since I buckled down though, my GPA has increased significantly, and, if my predictions are accurate, it will continue to increase. TO SUMMARIZE: My stats aren't that impressive, and while I know that stats aren't everything, I still question whether or not I'll even have a chance getting into any of the schools I want to attend. My top choices are Reed and Carleton, but I'm also applying to Lawrence, Middlebury, Tulsa, and University of Kansas (my home state and last resort). KU- I really don't want to go there, unless I got into the Honors Program. Any chance there?</p>

<p>Shoot dang. I almost forgot to tell you my interests. I will pursue the fields of physics/astronomy and Russian language/literature/culture/cinema/hilarity. While I am set on these fields, I'd still like to go to a school where I could take plenty of classes in chemistry, biology, math theory, and philosophy. I want to know everything and be God.</p>

<p>Yeah, your stats aren’t awesome, but they are solid.</p>

<p>I have a son in Tulsa who was a NMF. He grades and test scores were higher than your, but not exceedingly so.</p>

<p>I think your shot at Tulsa is good. You might even get a full ride (Tulsa has a number of those for NMF).</p>

<p>By the way, he loves it there (a sophmore now). Apply to all your schools you have an interest and vist them. </p>

<p>He is in the honors pgm at Tulsa, apply for that as well. He said that it is really challenging, but is giving him the heavy duty, literature, philosophy, history combo he was wanting outside of his math/physics and comp sci courses he is taking.</p>

<p>I have similar stats. As you know, for LACs, the essay is crucial, so perfect that and it can make up for anything that might be lacking just a bit. I agree though that your scores are solid. Middlebury and Carleton are bit on the reach side. Reed is a bit less so, but Lawrence is definitely a match (wonderful school). Definitely KU, dunno about Tulsa. If you like LACs, I could recommend some matches/safeties.</p>
