Your stats are good but Vandy will be a reach.

i think you stand a decent chance of getting in. im currently a student at vanderbilt, and hear that they've been really pushing an increase in the undergrad. jewish population and it appears from your high school that you are jewish. regardless, there has also been an increase of northeasterners here as well.

good luck, please let me know how it goes! your profile is/was very similar to my hs stats -- but i was admitted 3 years ago and it has gotten slightly tougher to get in.

Thanks so much for the info. How do you like Vandebilt? What is your take on how Northerners do at the school? Especially Northerners with liberal politics?

Hey wannagotocollege! Although you were addressing VandyManiac, I figured I'd throw my two cents in as well. I am a liberal northerner too, and it hasn't been any problem or anything here. You won't be the only Democrat! I have friends who are republican, and we kid around with each other sometimes, but we respect each others views. Vandy is really an amazing school. Good luck with admissions and the rest of your college search!

Thanks for the info

I think Vanderbilt is defininely a reach school for you. What kind of GPAs do the top kids in your class have? I know your school does not rank, but do you fall into a range of decile or something like that? Either way I would advise you to make sure you write strong essays and be very selective in who you ask to write your recommendations.
