You can try, but you’re going to be hurt by affirmative action. The percentage for Stanford may be 10-12%, but if you look at demographics, only 5-7% of Asian males get in.

You should definitely work on that Berkeley app bc it’s a better school with cooler people, you’ll fit in there, they like one sided math/sci asian males, their football team wins more than two games every year, and it’s pretty much just not stuck-up. AND they don’t have affirmative action (legally), so you won’t be hurt by it. Also, if you want your parents to still speak to you, definitely don’t go to Stanfuurd.

What are you, mad? Have you seen the estimates for how many Asian people applied vs. how many got in? Look at Cal and UCLA, two in-state comparisons. More Asian people apply and get into either one! Yet in Stanford, admissions for White people are 2 to 1 when compared to Asian people; 5 to 3 overall. Black people take up a massive number compared to Cal and UCLA as well.

I mean sure a lot of Asian people go in, but proportionally speaking, many more are turned down with race as the motivator.

Taishaku, race isn’t the motivator, but the end result is the same. All the top colleges are trying to maintain gender mix at a certain level, and also a certain mix on race as well. So at many colleges, it’s actually somewhat easier for males to get in than females, and unfortunately the same is true for some races vs others. But I agree, the outcome certainly feels that way…

Any criticism, comments, concerns? Any special way to separate myself apart? I DO have 3 officer positions and a Varsity sport. Do all asians have that as too? :(

Officer positions aren’t too impressive IMO since a lot of students applying to Stanford will have at least 2 anyway…

It’s not what you do that will define who you are; it’s how you present yourself as the individual. I’ve seen a case where a girl got into Stanford based on her extracurricular being her love for reading. Just holding a position in some club won’t get you far. Showing what you did with that position will do you better.
