Chances so far for Deerfield?

Ok, this year I'm only in 7th grade, but I've started looking at some prep schools, and Deerfield is my first choice! I would also go to Choate Rosemary Hall, Taft, or Andover! But am I even good enough? I just want to know what else I have to do to make myself stand out?

Grades for the first semester of 7th grade:
Math- A
Science- A+
Social Studies- A+
Language Arts- A+
Business Technology- A+
(Gym- A)

ECs:
Flute- Concert Band
Flute- Jazz Band
Synchronized Swimming Lessons (My teacher is going to recommend me for a team in May)
Religious Education
Altar Serving
Girl Scouts

Volunteering:
I'm a Junior Docent at my Historical Society, which means that I dress up like a colonial person and teach people about history.
Altar Serving
I volunteer at both my school library and my town library
I'm going to start babysitting
My Girl Scout troop is going to start working on a volunteering award soon (I think)
I might be able to peer-tutor in Social Studies

Awards:
5th Grade-
Service Award, Citizenship Award

6th Grade-
Memorial Award, Highest Grade Point Average in my Class, Musical Recognition,
4th Quarter Honor Roll (they didn't have it for the other three quarters)

Summer 2011-
Won a 30 minute long endurance swim race across a river that is held at my
summer camp every year

7th Grade-
Honor Roll, Student of the Month

Teacher Relationships- Excellent

Other Projects- Petitioned the school to start a Debate Team, Petitioned the school to extend the Business Technology Class, I have a partner for the Science Fair in May, For our "Enrichment" Program (where some of us go when everyone else is in tutoring), my group conducted a Science Project that tested focus and concentration on math problems with different background music (it's kind of cliched, I know), Was a Criminal Defense Attorney in a mock trial held in our SS class that I came up with (I won the seemingly impossible case, even though the trial was set up by me and my partner so that I would lose!).

I'm kind of worried because I don't play soccer, basketball, lacrosse, etc. I might try out for Track and Field though this spring, if I can fit it into my schedule.
Do I need anymore ECs?
So, what else should I do, other than take the SSATs, interview, recommendations, etc.?
Everyone says that I'm doing fine, but I'm not sure...?

Thanks!

Please Reply!!!

You look solid, but here is some advice.

When I was a younger applicant, I would look to fill up the EC part of the application just so I stack up to the other candidates. Don’t ever do that!!! I suggest focusing deeply into the few volunteer/EC/subject that you genuinely care about. I told my interviewer that I do do two sports a year, but that is just for keeping myself in shape and NOT the sole reason I am applying for boarding school. But of course if you do a sport and you are passionate about it, mention so.

One more thing, you want to show yearS of commitment. So if you do an instrument, tell how long you have done it and the level of commitment.

I hope I’m solid!! I just want to know what else I need to do!!!

Find your passion. That is what you need to do.

Bump (sorry,everybody)

Anybody???

I agree with Bklai. Schools look for commitment. You need something that you’re really good/passionate about and you love, and that’s your hook that you’re going to use. It could be a musical instrument, a sport, or an activity. If you have that with solid academics, a good enough variety in ECs, good SSAT, and a person that is amiable and loves to help others, you’re a perfect candidate.

Thank you!

Take the ssat… Interview tip- tell stories, have a back and forth discussion, and ASK THEM QUESTIONS

Thank you!!

Anybody else?

I just wanted to add that I’ve played the flute for four years, because I read a reply telling me that this is important.

Bump— sorry!!

Oh, I also need to add that I wrote a play that my Social Studies teacher let all of her classes read and then gave it to every other SS teacher in the building, based on what she told me.

Good, add the SS event maybe in your essay or in the ‘what are you proud of’ section in your application.

Bump!!!

I should also add that I’m the Assistant Section Leader for the flutes and am currently the only assistant/leader from 7th grade in the entire band, to the best of my knowledge.

Oh, I would also need a full Financial Aid scholarship.

Anymore chances?
