EC's don't really reflect anything because.. well, my school doesn't really have any EC's, and I made the club that reflects math.. :)

I apologize if the name sounds cocky, what can I say, I love the school.

I'm sure all of us WANT to have that name.. but pretty much all of us would have to change our names in a month =)

TASP and USAMO? Def. getting in

The two together are really that strong?

combined with 1600 SAT and a really high GPA, you're golden

Just for your information, not only does Stanford throw out freshman GPA (you know that) it also discards +/- and grades on a straight 4.0 scale (any A is 4.0, any B is 3.0, any C is rejected :D)

What if I got... like 4 C's freshmen year? That won't make any impact will it? It will be on my transcript... oh... and switch the CR and Writing around.. oops :X

If Stanford says they don't look at freshman grades, they don't look at freshman grades. same with princeton.

StanfordCardinal: Though you never know, I think you have a pretty good chance.

b4nnd20: Any C is rejected?? What if your school's average is like a 40~50 (in a particular subject) and a C is considered a pretty solid score?

Uhhh...does it even matter what his chances are? He already applied what you say really means nothing. Let the admission people decide.

True, doesn't mean I can't be nervous and wonder what you all think my chances are :)

Fair enough.

In that case, what do you think?

no matter how you want to spin it....freshmen grades count.

they are not in the official formula stanford may calculate at the top of the matter, but you better believe that the adcoms going to be searching for a reason why you got those C's, and if they can't find one, they possibly might move on to the next applicant with everything you have, except a 4.0 throughout.

that being said, a 36 on the ACT is pretty amazing. as well as TASP.
if you get in, it will be because of everything but grades
if you don't, it is only the fault of grades, and maybe some school EC's

but i like your chances...good luck

Well, in all honesty, I couldn't really tell you. I mean, sure you're in the running, but you knew that already. People with much lower stats are admitted based on academic ability, and people with higher stats are rejected. If Stanford sees something in you through your essays and rec. letters that they want in their next years class they'll admit you, if they don't they'll reject you. I don't think anyone on this board could tell you really.
