Hey, applied early to Stanford already- but was wondering my chances at Stanford along with chances at the other colleges.

Essays: Essays to Stanford I thought were pretty good, but that's entirely subjective so... who knows!

Reccomendations: I really really liked one of them, one was above average and one was generic.

Colleges:

Reach?:
Stanford(SCEA)
Columbia
Yale
Harvard

Match?:
UChicago
Northwestern
Rice
Emory
Georgetown
Boston College

Safeties:
University of Missouri - Columbia

Any and all input is appreciated!

Your class rank will hurt, but everything else is frigging leetsauce. I see you getting into at least one of your reaches. TASP + 36 ACT + Leet SAT score + USAMO

The most impressive aspect, to me, is your TASP + USAMO.. that's LIKE PROVING UR A MULTI-FACETED INDIVIDUAL. Por que no apply to MIT?

I haven't really looked into the school as of yet, but.. the reason I am hesitant to apply to many reaches is because of the 3.8 W GPA, I figured the best chance I stood was at Stanford, and the other three would be instant rejection. What type of school is MIT? Sounds dumb, but I'm completely oblivious to it- seeing that I don't have an interest in engineering I automatically overlooked it. Also, think omitting my rank and letting the college estimate would be a good idea?

Well, I know that MIT, unlike many other colleges, know the significance of USAMO and stuff like that. Although it is not a hook to get in, it certainly helps your chances substantially. Also, they place a lot of emphasis on your science/math courses' grades. =)

I know this may sound weird (I still think you have excellent chances at most of the schools), but your EC's seem very odd to me. You're obviously strong in math/science, but your EC's don't really reflect that. I mean, I don't think it should be a problem, but some schools might question it, so be ready to explain why.

Reaches (although keep in mind that these are reaches for 99% of the population):
Stanford SCEA
Yale
Harvard

Slight Reach:
Columbia

Matches:
UChicago
Northwestern
Rice
Georgetown

Safe matches/Safeties:
Emory
Boston College

Super safety:
University of Missouri - Columbia

besides the gpa which is excusable with your sat scores/act score/tasp/usamo status, you have a good shot anywhere. good luck!

I am not really obsessed with math and science, just did EC's I found kinda neat. :)

So even though my GPA is 3.78(4.028) at Stanford, I still stand a chance? I really don't care as much to know my chances at the other schools- just mainly input on Stanford. Would my chances at Stanford be higher then that of Yale or Harvard?(GPA factor?) TASP and USAMO don't really seem all that strong- my guidance counselor didn't really seem too impressed by them, then again I'm the first to go to either- will they really make that much of an effect on a college app to a place like Stanford?

your scores and upward trend of grades is great but what confuses me is what u wanna do at those schools isnt reflected in ur e.c. or clubs which takes away from the "passionate" aspect for the major and also, u said u liked and disliked some recs..ur not supposed to be reading those, when appyling to schools u check a box saying u wont be seeing them at all. if u checked the box allowing u to see the recs, u screwed urself

Stanford--reach
Columbia--reach
Yale--reach
Harvard--reach
UChicago--low reach
Northwestern--low reach
Rice--match
Emory--match
Georgetown--match
Boston College--probably in

ur rank brings u down
