*Stanford is my DREAM SCHOOL! :)

If Stanford is your dream school, then why did you post this on virtually every board? Instead of flooding every Ivy/top school board with the same thread, why didn't you just post it on the "Chances" board?

As for your chances, I'm going to repeat what others have said: up the SAT score and get rid of Who's Who. Keep up with the music; that seems to be your hook. You have a shot, but you can never tell.

becuase i already did that :)

LOL. touche. Just to let you know, among the very top schools (HYPSMC), Stanford is the most unpredictable. It seems to regard the intangibles very highly, so make sure that your essays are good.

That was my head hitting the keyboard. I fell asleep reading your list of ECs. Who cares if you got an "Invitation to Summer Baylor Piano Institute to perform at a Master Class with Prof. Bohlen" Do more than like 2 people on this board know who Professor Bohlen is? No. Keep it short when you apply, adcoms are people too.

I think there is such a thing as too many ECs.

i think its funny that you'll get to list like 6 of your ECs/awards etc. on the application...kill the motor dude

I wonder how you can fit all these qualifications on the application with limited space. In my case, I listed only my senior year stuff and the space was not even enough.

Do you have any idea what a master class is? And to be just in high school and be invited into a master class with a college professor is a VERY BIG DEAL to someone who is majoring in music. I'll keep it. But i AM getting rid of who's who

well, apollo, of course if you want to apply, apply, but no one on this board is going to have some brilliant formula that will determine whether you get in or not. There is some good advice, take it or leave it, and some bad advice, but that's about all.

but anyways, you are definitely going to need to cut down on that list. like others have said, stanford limits your space and doesn't let you put a resume, so that will cut it down for you. i mean, thirty minutes a week at NHS--you spend more time getting ready for school in the morning. it's just not something colleges will care about. reading that list (more like skimming it) it just makes you look like an application stuffer without much personality. its more about showing them that you are really dedicated. say with music, that seems to be a big thing for you, if you have a good person, try and get a music teacher to write a supplemental rec, and they can highlight your talent and explain the prestige of some of your best awards. If you are really talented, send in a sample.

no one knows your chances of getting in; try and learn from the mistakes of some of us who went through this process last year, apply early if its your "dream school," and don't be too disappointed if a rejection comes in the mail. Always have safety schools and (as long as the app fee isn't a problem) apply to as many schools as you are genuinely interested in and can stomach the paperwork for. And, come to that, have more than one "dream school," it makes April a whole lot better!

^^agreed

we're not admission officers.
