My son got credit for PHYS0110 with a 5 on the Physics B AP test.

His first Physics class at Pitt PHYS 0174.

They’re the same thing. Some people use the “essay” that they’re allowed to give admissions to write a personal statement: either why they want to go to Pitt, maybe to explain a certain part of their application (I.E. a low GPA) or something else. OR you submit the “essay” as an essay on a topic of your choice, non-personal. For example, my essay I submitted talked about my love of Harry Potter and reading.

Right. I think you can get credit for ONE physics class with Physics B, but to get out of Physics all together (i.e. Physics 1 and 2) you can only use Physics C for that.

Can I write an essay to explain my low GPA,then write a personal statement to talk about myself?
Will that bother the admission office,
cause I know they need to read a many essays during the admission period

Thank you

To my knowledge you can only send in one essay. So what you should do is try to write a personal statement in which you can explain about your low GPA. I think generally you could write about yourself first, and at the end use a paragraph to explain the GPA. But don’t write two essays.

I believe you could do both an essay and a short personal statement about your GPA. You can only upload one essay to the application, but you can send supplemental info like an activity resume via email; so you should also be able to send a short personal statement by email.
