Chances / Suggestions

Hi guys, I need some help with evaluating chances and college suggestions. I'll just lay out my information below.

Both parents never finished high school.
One income for the family

Grades / SAT / AP

Junior GPA - 3.7-
Class Rank - Top 10%

June SAT - 570 / 620 / 570
Planning on taking again in Oct.
Mathematics I - 660
Biology E - 670
Planning on taking Mathematics II and Chinese in Nov.

AP Biology - 4
Taking AP Calculus, Statistics, Physics B, and Psychology this year.

High School
2011 Class - 450+
Average GPA - 3.2?
Average SAT - 1400-1500
Roughly 40% of graduates move onto 4-year colleges.

Extraciriculars
Tennis Team - Fourth year, slated for Varsity spot as Senior.
Chess Club, Drama Club, and Japanese Club (founder + club head).
Pianist - Eighth year (Fourth since high school), played in various charity performances, National Guild participant, IP Piano Test Level 5 (Pass).

Chinese School TA - kindergarden + advanced badminton (roughly 35+ hours)(am doing again this year)
VBS Project Musician / Co-worker - Second year (roughly 80+ hours)(am doing again this year)
Biology tutor for second half of Junior year - I'd do it again if I'm requested to.
Charity performances (from piano)
No job experience as of yet

College List
Major - Probably Biology, looking into Engineering, such as Biomedical Engineering.

Reaches - Brown / Dartmouth / Tufts
Comforts - Syracuse / BU
Safeties - UMass Amherst / Drexel / UNH
Options? - UConn / Northeastern / ???
(I probably won't bother applying to my reaches if my SATs don't jump, since it'd be a waste of money to apply.)

Chances of being accepted to my comforts / safeties? I'm also in need of more college suggestions to bulk up my list.
Because of financial problems and stuff my ideal school would be Syracuse. What do you guys think?

your reaches are reaches for the stars without high grades and test scores. is that a weighted or unweighted gpa? also your extra currics arent that impressive for these schools as well. They seem average. Most applicants at these schools may have done similar things to the next level. elaborate on your gpa and i’ll comment further.

chance me??
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/981888-chances-getting-skidmore-union-f-m-chance-me-ill-chance-you.html

That’s why I said I probably wouldn’t both with my blind reaches. I’d rather focus on getting college chances from my comforts / safeties and other college suggestions.

GPA at my school is unweighted.

Updated version of the OP here. (I can’t edit the OP for some reason)

Bump please. I could really use the advice here.

I think you would be accepted at Cuse but BU is a little more iffy and might be a slight reach. If you can get your SAT to above 1900, I think you would be in. I think you’ll be fine for your safety/other schools. You look like you might be a good fit for a school like Penn St or Ohio St as well and Im positive you would be accepted to both. Possibly also look at Inidiana U at Bloomington. Please chance me also.

Thanks, I’ve looked into Penn St. and UMaryland Baltimore as well. Why can’t I edit my original post?

I’m hoping to score somewhere like 600-650 Critical Reading and maybe a 700 Math. I’m perfectly happy with my Writing score as of current.

Can you afford your safeties/matches? They have to be safe financially to be a safety.

Schools like BU and Syracuse have limited aid and give it to students at the top of their pools. Publics sometimes have merit aid for OOS students at the top of their pool but they save most aid for those in state.

I can afford my ideal safety - UMass Amherst and others since I’m an in-state applicant.
I just want to know my chances on my comforts, mainly Syracuse, as specified in the OP.

is your gpa a 3.2 or a 3.7? you call it two different numbers.

3.7 was my GPA at the end of Junior year.

3.2 is the average GPA of students in my class.

Chance / suggest please. :)

hahaha ohh, i feel kind of slow now.

you’re sats seems pretty low (even for your match schools), have you thought about taking the act (it has a science section, so there’s less emphasis on english)? What about Ithica, or UVT?
