What are my chances for these schools?

University of Pennsylvania (ED)
Washington University in St. Louis
Cornell University, Choice
Duke University
Northwestern
UC Berkeley
JHU
MIT
PennState Honors college
UCLA
NYU
Rice
CMU
Vanderbilt
Tufts

zero percent.

well, i'll be applying to penn engineering ED too, and let's just say you have a better shot then i do :)
good luck.

UPenn- GPA is on the low side, difficult to call. I predict deferment...
WUSTL- Again, GPA is on the low side. More of a high match, but ultimately I think you can make it in
Cornell- I predict waitlist, rejection
Duke- Probable waitlist or rejection
UCB- OOS, I predict rejection
JHU- Probable waitlist, or rejection
MIT- Very slim chance of acceptance. This is your highest reach.
PennState Honors- In
UCLA- OOS, probable acceptance
NYU- Probable acceptance
Rice- 50/50
CMU- Probable acceptance
Vanderbilt- 50/50
Tufts- Probably in

Good luck!

My school uses the 100 pt scale, so I'm not sure of my GPA on 4.0 scale yet lol. I'm making an estimation. Weighted GPA on 100pt scale is 101.8. I'm 2nd in my class though..used to be 1st but I'm not going to get into that.

Your UW gpa is what they will look at... What is your UW gpa on the 100pt scale?

I'm not sure of my UW gpa either, I only see the weighted one on the report. It's probably 94.8 or a bit higher.

Ok soo...... the only three that I see as pretty tough on this list are UCLA, Cal, and Penn; uc's are a crapshoot oos, and penn is an ivy- so they're crazy b/c they can deny someone with a 3.99 and a 2350 SAT. i've seen it before, sadly.

i can almost guarantee you get into all the others though.

chance me too! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/559685-i-got-owned-pwnd-even.html

Contrary to prior posts, I think you stand a good chance at Cornell.

dont retake a 760

^ I disagree. If the OP can get an 800 in the Math SAT 2 is shows that she has the strong math skills to become an engineer. Only retake, though, if you are confident you can get a 780+

I agree with smart.cookie ... retake if you think you will improve.

Yeah..I'm going to get an 800, made up my mind. This time I'm going to study for it for more than a day T_T

Question: doesn't 94=4.0?

Mswordfan, good chance as in applying ED or regular?

What's OP? Can't keep up with the abbr..

94 doesn't necessarily mean a 4.0. You have to add up the grade values for all of the semester grades (A=4, B=3, etc.) and then divide them by total number of semester hours to come up with a GPA. If there is even 1 B, then a 94 average does not translate to a 4.0, and, depending on the school, an A- will mean less than a 4.0. See the admissions forum for more threads on GPA calculation.

OP= Original Poster

Retaking a 760 for an 800 is pretty stupid and a waste of time and money. Some people on this site need a real wake up call because there is really no difference between a 760 and 800 in college admissions.

^ In engineering admissions a 800 could provide a small bump. A 760 is awesome, but if the OP can raise it to an 800 I would say go for it!

you'll look like a nerd with no life if you retake a 760. admissions officers don't care about the difference between 750+. and you're fine for grades if youre #2 in your class. i would say you're somewhat better than 50-50 chance to get in if you apply ED.
