Chances Thread (because CC doesn't have enough)

Hi I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on my chances at USC. I applied 1st major business administration (my hope is to get into the BUAD/CNT program but its just a little competitive), 2nd choice political science.

-Won the NY regional(NY,NJ, and CT) National Student Television Award for Excellence in 2005, Honorable Mention in 2006(awarded by the National Television Academy, the same group that gives out Emmys)

Referee of youth basketball association since 7th grade

Not the greatest list of ECs, but I spend the majority of my free time on my television show and at track practice/meets. Obviously my overall GPA isn't spectacular, but I had a hard time adjusting to high school level work and struggled my freshman year. My GC's rec centered mainly on how I have gone through a big change as a person and student since he first met me.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

did you include honors points from your freshmen and sophomore years when you weighted your GPA?

I would give my opinion, but i dont think im really worthy to rate somebody's chances

I would say that you have a good chance - good SATs, but your GPA is average (with a very nice rising trend). Your ECs sound really good, particularly your television show. Good luck!

pmcharkins- My school awards a 5.0 for an A in any honors or AP classes, a 4.0 for a B, etc.

MSMDAD- Thanks a lot for the advice. I know I will have to live with my freshman GPA, but I'm hoping USC takes into account the rising trend.

Should be accepted but you never know.

im in the same situation as you. im planning on applying to USC but freshman year i got a 2.89uw gpa but i have a rising thread as well. Hopefully they will take that in consideration.

sfgiants- Thanks for the comments. Also, your name always pops up in these type of threads and I think all of us at CC really appreciate it.

bittersweetie- For the both of us I hope so.

BTW, I visited this past November and did the Meet USC program for Marshall. The admissions officer that I and a few other students met with was great, and we had a good Q&A session. Afterwards, I talked to her one-on-one in the elevator as I left (she had gone to NYU and we talked about the city and other stuff about back East). As we said our goodbyes she asked me my name again and made a note on my information sheet she was carrying among those of the group. Think this might help my chances getting into Marshall specifically or USC in general?
