Chances Thread Part II

My first thread got almost no response, so I'm hoping this one will have a better result. I apologize in advance to any mod's for re-posting, feel free to delete if necessary.

Currently a freshman at Ithaca College looking to transfer for Fall 2008.

High School: 3.1GPA
SAT: 550M 580CR 620W

College: 3.74GPA 1st semester

Will my High School stats limit my options at schools such as...

Villanova, Providence, Marist?

Also, any other suggestions for Northeast schools to look into? Would Cornell CALS be too much of a reach considering my shaky high school stats?

For Cornell, you might want to wait and apply to transfer as a junior so that your college grades, instructor recs and activities will be given more weight than your HS record.

Sorry, I'm not very familiar with the other schools.

Yeah, I don't know how much bearing they place on being a legacy but I have that as well (for Cornell).

Any other opinions?

sorry to be harsh, but sub-600 sat scores wont cut it for ivy league colleges.......that is, if you apply as a sophomore transfer. a junior transfer is a completely different story. i have almost identical hs stats as you do, and college stats(3.77 gpa). i made a similar thread to gauge my options at the ivies, and everyone recommended i wait for a junior transfer. they also strongly recommended i retake the sat's(590M,590R,590W).

you have a very good shot at the other three schools if you apply as a sophomore or junior transfer assuming you maintain your terrific grades.

best of luck

I figured there was little shot, just thought I'd get some opinions. I appreciate your help.

Any other opinions on my chances at the other 3 schools I listed?

anyone else?

I heard that students who transfer to Villanova are housed in Rosemont College. Is anyone patrolling this board familiar with how this situation is?

Also, any other opinions.
