Will get rec including how i did all of APUSH 1st semester over winter break to get into the class. Essay will be on honor and how I gave up my friends to the police when they committed arson on a car and how hard it was to give them up but to do the right thing.(...and will not tolerate those who do...you guys know the motto)

-THANKS

EDIT: i got straight A's last semester and I am in SPanish honor society

Not much (any) leadership positions
GPA is a bit low for WP to try to stand on academics alone.
The varsity letter isn't so much about "what the sport is", but that it indicates participation as a member of a team with the dedication necessary to compete and practice on a fairly regular schedule. It's a good indicator of a candidate being able to successfully "juggle" a superior academic effort along with a significant team sports effort. You need to make your file as competitive as you can.

your essay might not go over as well as you hope. Yes, west point has a very strict honor code but at the same time, they don't like snitches. My advice is to try to have your essay come off as little "snitchy" as possible.

Takingbacksaturdayz - my son (and I) have found The West Point Candidate Book by William L. Smallwood very helpful. It is a little outdated (published in 2000), but is loaded with advice on "how to prepare, how to get in, and how to survive". It certainly reinforces much of the advice given on this forum.

hmm I will look it up thanks Ann.

what is the break down of your 1810. It is on the low side for west point

610 math, 640 writing, 570 critical reading but i plan on retaking in october

oh and i was with my friends when they did this thing...we thought we put out the fire...lol

Dang an 1180. Thats going to make it real hard to get in, if not impossible. You fall in the lower 25% of the class and around 35% is made up of athletes, military, minorities(i think). Don't lose hope, i improved my math and cr 140 points from march to may. Your going to need to raise it 100-150 points and you will be very solid

you gave up your friends??? dang... guess it depends on the situation ;)

cool thanks jq722....oh yeah i gave them up in a heartbeat..how else am i supposed to get into west point?! lol

As a Cadet here now, I would highly suggest not using that kind of essay. It sounds good in theory, but, well...

ok i guess i do have to go into it...I was actually with them..and they wanted me to lie to the police but i told them no which forced them to tell the truth. We didnt actually think we lit the car on fire because we had supposedly put it out but there was still embers remaining in the car which probably caught it back on fire. It was one of my friends who was an idiot and set a paper on fire in the first place and put it in the car being stupid

well wasn't that nice of you :)

haha sorry im not trying to be a jerk i just thought it would have taken longer than that but i guess it didnt lol

hey im not one to judge. I killed small animals with my friend when I was a little kid growin up in the coastal mountain range

like wat? Rabbits?

newts, snakes, ducks, squirrells, mice, sparrows... :) eat what you kill... well most of what you kill
