I was told basically all the schools were reaches with my GPA (3.6), rank (14/116) , and SAT scores (I 2110, II 560, 630, 610 oops) except for SMU and maybe Oberlin, but I got into all eleven schools I applied to.

Southern Methodist University (SMU)
Oberlin College
Wellesley College
Rice University
Tufts University
Columbia University
Stanford University
University of Chicago
Northwestern University
New York University (NYU)
Carleton College

So I'm for sure going to Columbia. WHOOOO NYC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CC was fairly accurate with which schools I would be accepted into. I got into 10 out of the 12 schools I applied to, 1 rejection, and 1 waitlist.

ACCEPTED:
MIT
Harvard
Yale
Columbia
NYU
Stony Brook University (Honor's College)
Siena College (Presidential Scholar)
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
St. John's Honors College
Fordham University

Overall, my friends predictions were more or less correct.

Macalester - Safety - Accepted
Carleton - Match - Waitlist
WUSTL - Match - Waitlist
Northwestern - Match - Accepted
University of Chicago - Slight Reach - ACCEPTED
Swarthmore - Reach - Rejected
Stanford - Reach - Rejected

I had two waitlists at what I thought were match schools that really freaked me out before I got accepted to UChicago. At that point, I was hoping for rejections from my other schools to get rid of temptations and make my decision even EASIER, if such a thing were possible.

I got rejected from Cornell which I definitely expected to get into.
On the bright side, I got into Duke which i did NOT expect at all. I've always known that the process is random but this year took it to a new level

well there seems to be alot of lucky applicants out there! too effing bad i wasnt one of them.

Dave Berry (online CC counselor) said UCLA was a match, as did other ppl on LA forums and i got REJECTEDDDDD. Berry said U MICH was ball park (85 percent to get in) DEFERRRED AND MOST LIKELLY REJECTEDDDDD. Tufts- slight reach REJECTEDDDDDDDDD

so yeah. im very bitter and unhappy how my college applications have turned out.

Hmm...I only posted two "chances" questions, and only one was answered (and that only by one person). The lack of response was probably because I never started my own thread.

Anyway, someone said I had a "strong chance" of getting into Duke. That boosted my confidence, since I thought I had only a very slight chance of getting in. I ended up getting in.

Here was my chances thread.... Got rejected by all privates, accepted by all UCs. Pretty much what was expected here, except that some people said I'd make it into one or two privates....

BC - Match - Waitlisted
UMich - Match - Deferred / Accepted (only 3 weeks later?)

I got into all of them:
University of Miami (Super reach)
Ohio State (match-reach)
Michigan State (match-reach)
Indiana (match)
Purdue (match)
American (reach)

3.0 gpa
1660 SAT
great Ec's and 4 excellent letters of reference

Accepted:
Harvard
Dartmouth
Columbia
Stanford (EA)
UVA
OSU

I guess I did a bit better than expected. Chances threads are pretty inaccurate in general (incomplete information, unknown essay writing ability, uninformed posters, bitter posters, etc), but everyone makes them anyway. I wish I had realized this before I wasted so much time/stress here. Maybe seeing a thread like this would have helped. Can't say it wasn't fun though :P

Amherst (Extreme Reach)
The College of New Jersey (Safety)
Connecticut College (Match)
Goucher College (Safety)
Rowan University (Safety)
Trinity College (Match)
Wesleyan University (Reach)

SATs: 670 CR, 660 M, 640 W
GPA: 4.143/4.7

Got into all of them except for Amherst, which I was rejected from. Oh well, I'm very happy with the results.
