Chances threads...

While it's nice that you all want to post your accomplishments and see if you could make it into Columbia, our opinions in no way represent what colleges really think. We don't know what your essays or recommendations look like, which are huge factors. Honestly, if you had the guts to post your numerous EC's, nice AP and SAT scores, then by all means, apply to Columbia. If all of us here said no, you would still apply.

You have nothing to lose anyways, except for app money if you do not use a fee waiver. Still, if you think everything in your resume if your personal best, then go ahead and apply to Columbia. I don't think anyone can give an accurate guess of your chances especially when you never know when admissions can shock you by taking students who are not cookie-cutter Ivy Leaque.

If you want to compare your status, check the list of accepted students and see the kind of students they take.

Y/N?

Thanks.

[EDIT: PS: I'm not trying to be a total meanie, I know you want to know how good your chances are....but seriously. Compare your stats and use some logic. In any case, an 8.something% chance at Columbia is far better than the zero from not applying at all].

I've posted a few chance threads in my day; however, now that I've reflected on it, I've realized that a few random people (with the exception of Denzera) cannot put any weight on whether or not I get into Columbia or wherever I so desire. I guess I too am tired of seeing people post "omg Columbia is my dream!1!11!one!1shift!1!" and seeing "I've cured cancer" in their ECs.

Just my $0.02.

agreed with everything you said
