Hello everyone, thanks for taking time out of your lives to do this for me okay first of all my stats:
GPA: about 3.65
Class Rank: No clue probably top 20%
School: it was in that newsweek thing pretty competitive for a public school its in NORTHERN Kentucky which is basically a suburb of Cincinnati it is suburban not rural
Ec's: i've been in fbla for 3 of my 4 high school years, gonna end up playing tennis 3 out of 4 years, Math Honor Society for 2(maybe a leadership position)
Community Service:Nothing Major i would tutor an elementary student one afternoon a week last year in math(5 hours)and i worked at a craft fair(10 hours) and various other small things nothing really worth mentioning on an application
ACT: 28 (33 reading, 26 Science, 27 Math, 24 English) i expect english and math to go up at least i don't know about the other ones
SATII: U.S. History-740, taking math 2c and literature in october
Major: at the moment i'm interested in majoring in history, political science, sports marketing something like that(i want to end up going to a good law school and become a sports agent)

Schools:
Miami of ohio
Louisville
South Carolina
UCLA
Boston University
Ohio State
Princeton
UVA
Michigan
Fordham
USC
Boston College
NYU
Georgetown
American
I know the list of colleges is very spread out i'm just not for sure what exactly i want in a college(also if you have some good colleges you think i might like mention them)
Oh yea i'm an African-American Male if that changes anything :)
And i'm a legacy to Princeton so yea just wondering cause i think my dad might pressure me to apply there not really that interested

oh yea and if this makes a difference that 3.65 is about a 95 average i don't know if that is weird or not and in AP classes you get 1.08 added onto your grade but you don't get like a whole extra grade point for taking them.
so far i have taken:AP US(4), AP English language(3), currently enrolled in ap english literature, ap euro, and ap calc ab.

UCLA - Reach (OOS)
Boston University - Match
Ohio State - Match
Princeton - ...waste of money to apply lol
UVA - Slight Reach / Reach (OOS)
Michigan - Slight Reach (OOS)
USC - Match / Slight Reach
Boston College - Match
NYU - Match
Georgetown - Reach

haha thanks man for the honesty could you let me in on any secrets to make some of the reaches more in grasp like how high should my act be and my two final sat II's

Princeton - don't bother, sorry kid.
UCLA, Michigan, UVA, USC, and Georgetown will all be substantial reaches.

3.65 w/a 28 ACT and no remarkable EC's?

I would almost rule out Georgetown and USC completely, esp. since you ARE applying with ACT.

For Michigan, your ACT is about on par with what you would need to get in IN STATE. To get in from OOS it needs to be much better.

Same for UCLA and UVA.

My recommendation. Get those test scores up, consider taking the SAT, you might do better on it and it will be liked more out west and east. And hope your first semester grades are straight A's.

"I would almost rule out Georgetown and USC completely, esp. since you ARE applying with ACT."

That doesn't make sense, no schools, with the exception of Harvey Mudd weight SAT more heavily then ACT.

U of M isn't as hard as you think it is to get into from OOS. Even from OOS, his stats are only a little below average, not alot, making it a slight reach / reach. Not neccesarily a far reach.

yea i was kind of wondering about that why would it matter what score i turned in and i'm fairly confident i would do worse on the SAT, and not to be an AA whore but shouldn't being a URM help a little bit

And plus, he is a URM, which makes his chances go up significantly...so I don't think I'm being overly optmisitic...oh and I'm assuming his GPA is UW...if it was weighted, things could change alot

yea my gpa is unweighted my school doesn't weight the guiance lady said they use an index she was basically speaking a different language...anyway more help greatly appreciated

Michigan is not that hard to get into. My friend got a 3.0 gpa and he got waitlisted, not only that, he didn't even apply early. My other friend got like a 3.7 UW and she got in. But she applied early. She also didn't have any great ec, although she did do 2 varsity sports.

thank you for your input it is greatly appreciated also i was just recently awarded an outstanding participant for the national achievement pogram does that make any kind of difference does it help or generally not that important
