Chances to Any Ivy League

or Duke, Stanford, Chicago, Northwestern

I go to TAMS (Texas Academy of Math and Science)
I live on campus at University of North Texas
and I take college courses, and yeah i think its a pretty good opportunity
as ill be able to take organic chemistry before i go to "real" college

GPA: 3.9167 out of 4.00
Rank: No rank.

Recs:
I go to Texas Academy of Math and Science
and apparently our dean and biology professor writes amazing recs if we are hardworking or osmething
and my former math professor would write an amazing recommendation from what he has implied.

I made all A's freshman and sophomore years and was ranked 2 or 3 before i came to TAMS at my old high school.

I am taking Organic Chemistry in the fall and Physics:Mechanics
At TAMS, people do bad on physics but I think i will manage an A because im ready to really bust my ass out there
and o chem was "not recommended" by my counselors
but i am taking it like an academic bad boy or something idk

I love tennis. I know almost everythign there is to know about it. Although I might be short on the history of the game, I know how to string racquets and im familiar with strategies, players, idk man you name it

and im interested in psychology and i am doign undergraduate research right now on neuroscience and its getting pretty interesting now.

and i guess for personal qualities i consider myself a hilarious person.
if that counts

its cool to be hilarious... all of those schools are tough for anyone, but like most people asking, yes, you have a chance...

sounds like you're a korean
j.ahn ahn is a korean last name, so...

So I guess college courses count as APs so I think you're doing great!
ECs are pretty solid.

your GPA's GREAT

you have a good chance at all those schools, but like typical Koreans don't apply to Ivies b/c of your parents or something. The fact that your title is to Any Ivy League says that you should research carefully each Ivy schools and see which one you like the best.

But then again, you have good chances at them.
Good luck!

WOW, OMG, I know somone from TAMS!!!!!!

yeah i want to go for myself really
my parents arent that pressuring
theyre kinda laid back/easy going hahah

so you're korean?
which Ivy do you want to go the most?

i want to go to u penn or harvard
and brown's PLME program
but chicago sounds nice too.

to do probably economics or political science or international relations or philosophy

and pre med for sure

i want to go to penn mostly. that would be nice.

haha yeah im korean and ive been traumatized by the world cup :[

yea...
Koreans seem to be like in the blank state right now...
I was at Boys State so I wasn't like greatly impacted, but it sure sucked.

ooo UPenn, eh?
good school, esp for business (Wattson school)

economics will be very helpful even if you go back to Korea and look for jobs. economics major esp. at top US college will definitely get lucrative job in Korea.

neway good to know another Korean on CC!

well i want to become a doctor
lol

^^^ Is it because you want the abbreviation "Dr." before your name instead of like "Mr./Mrs."?

most of koreans do.
I understand that it's not because your parents are making you (or are they...) it's just that for Asians, doctor seems to be a very good job in the U.S.

I wish you the best of luck and hope to get in touch again!

"ooo UPenn, eh?
good school, esp for business (Wattson school)"

LOL.
don't pretend to know what you are talking about if you don't, buddy.

Sorry if I offended you in anyway.
It's my mistake. Watson School of Engineering and Applied Science...
Sorry again

or wharton @ upenn? not watson

hahahhah dr. infront of my name?

hopefully being a doctor will be much more than that

you know like, doing what a doctor does?

I estimate your AI at about 216-217, good for the lower Ivies (Penn, Brown, Cornell), not for the higher ones (Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Dartmouth, Columbia). And this presumes that you add some volunteer service--which I don't see any of on your resume.

Duke, Stanford-reach

Northwestern, Chicago-match

P.S. You have no safe matchies or safety on this list--which you need to add.

I suggest Univ of Rochester or Georgia Tech for this purpose.

SAT is too low for Ivies. raise to 2250+ and you'll have a good chance

safeties: UT austin, Rice University (lots of people get into rice from tams)

community service: close to 100 hours. tutoring public school students, volunteering at senior homes

and my sophomore year of clinical rotation was volunteer work
4- 6 hours per week for 2 semesters. i havent really calculated how much taht is. actually proabbly 100+

and i will be a senior mentor and thats pretty big community service.
this means that as a senior at tams, ill be living with the juniors for the whole year.

rice is your safety? unless there are two rices, i say you are crazy

well idk it didnt seem too hard to get into rice from tams

and at rice they take 100% of our credits and stuff
so i guess theres something there for tams kids

I agree...Rice isn't your safety
