Hey, im thinking about applying to Northwestern (Father was med student here), Georgetown (Father and brother are alums), and Notre Dame (Don't know if this matters, but grandpa was alum) next fall/winter as my three "reaches". What do you suppose my chances are to get into ANY of these schools?

Caucasian Male (Protestant)
SAT: CR: 710 M:740 W:660 (GU doesn't consider Writing)
GPA: 98.7 (100 scale) Top 10-5% of class
Haven't taken SAT II's yet, but will take Math II, US History, and Physics
Schedule: Freshmen-Junior Year has included mostly honors with 2 AP's: Calc BC and US History
Senior year: AP Eng, AP French, Adv Calc, AP Physics, AP Euro

EC's: (Most for all 4 years)
-Co-editor-in-chief of school paper (Nationally recognized paper, devote a lot of time to it)
-Student producer for musical (One of about 6 or 7 students who basically organize the spring musical. A lot of hard work)
-Member of Wind Symphony and Symphonic Orchestra as Percussionist
-Tennis team
-Have participated in Habitat for Humanity builds (About 6-8 hours for 2-3 builds)
-Usher at church once a month
-Cook at Ronald McDonald house once a week (A program created to provide food and housing for the families of children who are in the hospital)
-Sound crew chief for 2 years (Reason why I became a producer)

Honors:
-NHS for 2 years
-International Quill and Scroll Honor Society for 2 years
-Highest Academic Achiever awards in Precalculus, Honors Chem, Calc BC, and PE 10 (Funny, I know)

Assuming I write solid essays and get good recs from teachers/counselors, how are my chances?

I have a few questions. What do you anticipate scoring on the SAT IIs? What did you get on the APs? What type of school do you go to? What is your weighted gpa?

But based off what I know right now, I think you have a good shot at all three of those schools.

I took a Math II Practice test and got 800, but we’ll see. I anticipate the US score being lower, perhaps low-mid 700’s. I don’t take the AP tests for another couple of weeks, but I anticipate a 4 or 5 in both Calc and US History. I go to very good public school that has students accepted to Ivies every year. My school doesn’t weight AP’s.

You have good chances at all of those schools because of your connections. You have really good grades, really good SAT score(Notre Dame doesn’t look at writing also BTW). Since your grandpa went to ND, that helps a lot, so I would apply to all of those schools because you will probably get in.

Your SAT I scores look solid, especially if the school disregards the Writing score. Hopefully you can add 3 750+ SAT Subject Test scores to that and create a solid numbers portion of your application.

Your ECs seem pretty good, but a lot depends on how effectively you convey them in your application.

Assuming you get a moderate boost from the legacy factor, your chances at getting into any of the schools is good.
