Hey!
Cockrell School of Engineering is one of the most competitive schools at UT Austin. Forget top 7%, you need to be in the top 3% to really stand out. So rank, that’s an issue. SAT will primarily be looked at for the math section, but I’m somehow doubting you got an 800 math section score and 500 verbal LOL. See if you can raise that to at least 1480-1500, because realistically, that rank is pulling you down. That being said, why don’t you see if A&M is a good fit? I think that would be easier for you, but even then, I feel that SAT needs to be improved. Try Khan Academy for free SAT practice, and see if maybe even the ACT is right for you.

@david412

Yea, I think that 20% class rank and 1300 SAT is really gonna screw you for UT engineering

I agree with @anan16 that your chances are pretty low. However, I don’t think you would make it at A&M either (no offense). In order to get academic admit, you need top quarter (which you have) and 1360 with minimum on each section (can’t remember the specific minimums). This means you will be a review admit at TAMU. Since engineering is a holistic admissions review also, you have to show them you have really good EC’s and math/science capabilities.

Thank You guys everyone around me has been sugar coating it saying i have a chance but too keep my options open. I needed it straight. Thank you!
