So I'm applying for the 10th grade to Exeter, but I applied late. I understand that Exeter may/may not have a late round, but do they still see the late applications? Will they accept them in a very rare case?

I go to a school where there are high end academics, and each student gets placed into a department of their choice (while applying of course). I am in the math/science department, so the math and science classes are extremely difficult compared to a normal public school.

So far, here's what I've put on my application to Exeter:

Math Team (2 years)
Robotics (2 years)
Piano (8 years)
Foreign language - Latin (1 year)
Indian dance (9 years)
Community service in a science museum (3 weeks in the summer)
Orchestra (3 years)

I also participated in the Harvard-MIT Math Tournament this year, and I was on the ARML team. I've won various awards in local math tournaments in algebra and geometry. I've won my county's spelling bee for 3 consecutive years, and I was a finalist in the state spelling bee. I was chosen for the Duke TIP thing in the 4th, 5th, and 7th grades. This year I did lung cancer research at a local university...I entered this research in the local science fair and won the Society of In Vitro biology award.

I have A's in pretty much all of my classes, with the exception of a B in biology. I have a 3.9 (unweighted) GPA, and a 4.5 (weighted) GPA.

I'll be taking the ISEE next week, so I'll have those scores within 4 weeks (? I'm not sure..)

So from all of this, do I have the potential to be accepted?

All the schools have a late applicant pool. Go for it.

I’ve heard that sometimes Exeter doesn’t do a late applicant round…is it true?

Unless your family is wealthy enough to donate a new building to the school, or your family’s last name is Kennedy, Rockefeller or Obama, or you personally are already famous (like Justin Bieber), your chances of getting admitted to an ACRONYM school as a late applicant are zero.

I recommend you apply in the next admissions round.

GMT, what makes you say that? I’m just curious. Also, I’m not applying for FA

Exeter already has a vast pool of Wait-Listed applicants. Even from the small sample of kids who posted their admissions results online, you can do the math and see that there are a very, very, very large number of kids on Exeter’s WL:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/prep-school-admissions/1299461-official-list-2012-acceptances.html

A lot of these WL kids also do not need FA. All of these WL kids are smart/talented/athletic. And all of these WL kids also submitted their application on time.

As a late applicant, you will be, at best, be joining the WL pool. The school might let you cut the line if you have some absolutely incredible attribute to offer the school (e.g. your wealthy family will donate a building, you are an Olympic-level swimer, you are the kid of a governor/president/world leader). Just being an excellent student is not enough to get you in, at this late stage of the game.
