Chances to get into Pratt/Parsons/SCAD?

Hey, I'm transferring from the University of Michigan. I don't really like their art program and decided that a transfer to one of these schools would be best for me. It goes in that particular order in terms of my desire to attend.
My SAT (Math& CR Only): 1320
College GPA: 2.84 :(

This is my (Rough) portfolio uploaded via Flickr:

Portfolio - a set on Flickr

It's pretty much a light mix of illustration, graphic design, trad art and photography.

Do I have a good chance of getting into my schools of choice? I'm really curious because the deadline is very soon and was wondering if this would be enough for acceptance.

Thanks for the help!

noone replied yet?
I am no good judge for portfolio and don’t know the ropes of transferring, but it looks fine to me. what do you want to major? I like Hopper so I like your landscape that is Hopper-sh(minus subway) maybe that’s not a good thing? you did it from observation, I hope?
I am more interested in what’s wrong with UMich art.
It is respected around here enuff and I just mentioned it to some Detroit kid who wants to stay local.
If you tell us about your experience, great.
more people should be able to tell you about your works.

I used to review transfer portfolios at SCAD for G.D. applicants a number of years ago. You should be able to transfer in depending on your grades. Not sure how many G.D. transfer credits they would give you. That depends on a number of factors and is based upon how a G.D. professor evaluates your work and whether you would pass specific courses with a grade of C – as well as whether there are credit hours in your transcript that match up with courses in their curriculum.

Based upon what you have presented here, you will likely have to take foundation level courses. You might be able to get out of Drawing I if you add contour line, high contrast, perspective, and still life – work with black and white media. Drawing II introduces color. To “pass” Life Drawing you will need substantially more work with better execution. Draw from life, not from images. You can always submit additional work to “pass” a course. Your Gen Ed courses should transfer easily as long as you have a grade of C or better. I do not work for the school any longer. This is my personal opinion only.

Well Umich’s criteria and curriculum is rather flawed. They don’t really strive for technical proficiency but rather they are a concept driven school. However without technical proficiency, a great idea can only take you so far. At the end of the day, you have a lot of mediocre works because you have a ton of students using mediums they have never even attempted before.

If you’re looking for a local school try CCS in detroit. I hear good things about it from someone who transferred here to there.

Well I’m not TOO concerned about receiving credits, I’m more concerned about getting accepted into their program. I’m willing to stay an extra year or so, if that means I can get the education and such I want. I’m not very skilled in drawing, so the more drawing classes I can take, the better really. It’s something I really want to take a lot of classes in.

that’s a relief.
the kid’s first choice is CCS I think. but sort of gotten put down by other poster who does not know the school well.

good luck to you.
well, U Mich is yet another conceptual school where you don’t have to do tech drawing, eh? what’a world it is…
