Chances to get into UNC-Chapel Hill

I'm a rising senior from New York

Male
White

Weighted GPA: 99.97 (100 scale)

SAT: 2100 (800 math, 690 reading, 610, writing)

ACT
Composite: 34
English:29
Math: 36
Reading 36
Science: 36

Subject Tests:
Biology E 710
Chemistry 740

Course Load: I took mostly the hardest classes that my school offers and I am a full IB diploma candidate

Extra Curriculars - Sort of lacking here, I was a member of a few clubs that my school offered and have held a part time job for the last 2 years. Only sports I have participated in have been outside of school.

I think your other stats are good, GPA and SAT scores, but the only thing I’m worried about is your EC’s. Try to have EC’s that relate to your career goals. UNC is really hard to get into and the admission officers are really picky about the students they admit. So keep on working hard during Senior year, good luck.

Everyone on CC pretty much makes up trash to say, ^ is totally false, I know OOS’s that have far worse GPAs/SATs and have gotten in so you’re definitely in. UNC isn’t a ivy league and is fairly easy to get into.

I’d have to disagree with sanguinee… UNC Chapel Hill is definetly as hard as an Ivy to get into as an out of state student. The NC legislature decides every year what percent of their class can be out of state, and it is a very small number. You do definetly have a cahnge, but I agree with FanasyVesperia that would shsould try and find a meaningful EC to do your senior year (and even start this summer) that would relate to your career goals.

OOS admit rate is 15% as cited in this article:

…given that the OP’s stats are in line with average admits at colleges with an approx. 15% admit rate, I still see him as a viable candidate.
