Hi I’m a senior currently attending high school in Seattle. My gpa is a little on the low side at a 3.61, but I have taken a rigorous course load throughout high school (6 AP and 5 Honors) and my standardized test scores were a 28 on the ACT and a 1330 on the new SAT. I would really like to know how good of a shot I have of getting in. Thanks!
Your ACT and SAT grades are great and close to the 75th percentile of what UW accepts. True, your GPA is a little low for UW, but hey, mine was worse and I got into UC Berkeley! I’d say you have a really solid shot!! Good luck!
Middle 50% ACT of enrolled freshmen in 2016 was 26-32; average uw HS GPA was 3.78.
I am not aware that UW publishes stats of admitted students in addition to stats of enrolled students. However, as a function of yield, average stats of enrolled students are a little lower than average stats of accepted students (e.g., UCLA admitted ACT: 29-34; enrolled ACT: 26-33).
Course rigor and instate will help OP’s chances (admit rate for WA residents: 62:9%; OOS: 43.3%; international: 29.9%; overall: 45%). I’d call it a high match. Good luck!
