Hi,
I’m an Asian international student currently enrolled in a WA community college. I’ve already applied but I am really stressed out because of the chances that I’d be able to get into UW CSE. My GPA is not great.
Engl 131: 3.5
Eng 141: 3.7
Math 124/125: 4.0
Math 126: 3.7
Phys 121: 4.0
CSE 142: 3.9
CSE 143: 4.0
Overall GPA: 3.89
100+ hours of voluntary work + work experience as a tutor. 3 CS projects (talked a lot about them in my essay)
I cannot consider any other university at this time as I did not finish high school. Therefore, only WA colleges can accept me.
UW CSE is too difficult to get into to have it be your only option. Check out Western Washington, Washington State, and Bellevue College (the only community college I know of that has a four-year CS degree, there may be others?).
You can also earn a high school diploma at any Washington community college which would further increase your options. The GED is offered, and anyone who finishes a CC Associate’s degree can also apply for a Washington High School diploma for finishing the AA simply by signing a form asserting they have not earned any other high school credential.
I am currently doing the high school completion program but it will take another quarter for me to finish thus I cannot apply to other states’ schools yet.
My goal is to earn a PhD thus I cannot afford to go to schools with too limited of a research facility/resources.
WSU is a fine school, has good research. Of course it isn’t UW, but it’s completely fine for grad school
I have looked them over and their focuses do not align with mines.
