Extracurriculars:

I was captain of the boy's golf team for my junior year, and I have played every year of my high school career. I play at the state wide level and have won tournaments and been recruited by college coaches. I do not plan to play in college.

I volunteered over 300 hours as a summer camp counselor at a golf course which taught underprivileged children.

I began working the day I turned 14, and have held two jobs ever since.

I interned as a photographer for the National Parks Photographer who replaced Ansel Adams and has a TV show based on his life on Discovery Channel. I have been invited to take pictures for local newspapers, as well as for radio stations at large-venue concerts.

This summer, I will be attending a very selective law camp offered by Loudoun County Bar Association and fully paid for, where I will be able to participate in mock trials and supreme court visits.

I started a string of assemblies at nearby middle-schools about the growing drinking and drug use problem in the younger generation, and how to deal with peer pressure. I am considering turning my organization into a non-profit.

Possible Draws:

I write very good essays. I do believe they will benefit my applications.

My family has connections with the Walter Culter Foundation, which grants Johns Hopkins, University of Michigan, and Georgia Tech millions of dollars every year. My brother also attends Johns Hopkins University.

I plan to join the debate team. I know...random.

Thank you for taking the time!

Bump! I will chance back!

The upward trend in GPA looks promising, but it depends a little on how your cumulative turns out. SAT is pretty great. As someone else who looked at Hopkins, I’d say you definitely have a strong chance ED. UMich can definitely happen RD. I’m not as sure about the other schools since I haven’t looked there, but I know that from my neck of the woods (New York), UVA is extremely difficult to get into. The average GPA for UVA coming out of my school is around a 4.7. Based on standard statistics I’d say you can definitely get into Georgia Tech and Purdue. (: Best of luck!
Bump bump bump

Thank you! I chanced you back.

Johns Hopkins University (Possibly ED) Probably

Vanderbilt University (Possibly ED) Probably

University of Chicago Maybe

Georgia Tech Yes

Purdue University Yes

University of Virginia Maybe

University of Michigan Yes

University of Texas - Austin Yes

Thank you!!

Johns Hopkins University (Possibly ED)- If ED low match, if not high match
Vanderbilt University (Possibly ED)- If ED low match, if not high match
University of Chicago- Low reach
Georgia Tech- Low match
Purdue University- Low match
University of Virginia- High match
University of Michigan- Low match
University of Texas - Austin- Safety

Hope that helps (low match btw is slightly tougher than safety).

thank you! i chanced you back! bumpbumpbump

Every school you listed looks like you’re in for sure except Johns Hopkins and UChicago. Those are maybe a 70-80% of you getting acceptance. But nice stats!

What is your class rank or estimated percentile?

No, OP is not “in for sure” at UVA unless she lives in virginia. UVA is extremely competitive for out of state applicants, about a knotch below JHU and vanderbilt.

You should only be concerned JHU, Uchicago, Vanderbilt, and UVA. Everywhere else are safeties. You have a very good chance getting in ED to JHU or vanderbilt, which ever one you apply to ED. RD, your chances are slightly above average (Easier for females to get in for engineering).

I do live in Virginia haha! Thank you for your responses  Even instate it is competitive, I am applying almost solely to appease my dad (instate tuition).

I go to a very competitive school, but I believe maybe top 15%

hey, I live in virginia too! I think you’re okay for uva. people at my school who got this year in had similar stats and ecs. the thing is, once you get in, you really can’t stop looking at how little it costs compared to somehwere like jhu…someone I know is going to uva instead of jhu because of exactly that. good luck!

Hmm class rank is Really low for JHu, vanderbilt and u Chicago. You want at least top 10%. Although its not as bad if you are attending a super competitive school like Thomas Jefferson high school ST

15% is really just a lowball figure, as I have not seen my rank yet. I am a junior, and ranks are not calculated until the end of 2nd semester.
